Baleba

Interesting. I was at the game and thought he was excellent. Still very young but clearly a top player in the making imo.
Unfortunately measuring him against our current midfield isn't a good indicator.

Was good yesterday. But dominating our midfield is no longer the feat is was even 12 months ago. I’d have been more worried if he hadn’t as opposed to saying he’s mint because of yesterday.

He was terrible

25% tackle success and 70% pass completion. But apparently dominated our midfield? Outside Minteh(a winger tracking back vs Doku) he was the most dribbled past player on the pitch. Plus missed an absolute sitter to top it off. Subbed off for a reason. Lads massively overrated.

That what I saw but some fans must have blinkers on when it comes to the opposition players while slating out players who were far better stat wise

he would suit are midfield then haha with them stats i'm sure if he was playing for city our fans wouldn't be saying how well he played i though his partner gomez played very well

These energetic midfielders of his mould are ten a penny in Ligue 1, and available for cheap seeing as their TV rights deal imploded. Thuram went Juventus for 20mil. Camara at Monaco has had 2 great seasons and is much better than Baleba on the ball.

I don’t think having 1 good season at Brighton is worth the extra £70mil premium.

Tend to agree, like him as a player but this mould crop up every year as the 'next Kante' or some such moniker

Exactly this. Surely we've learnt our lesson with Phillips and Nunez.

I mentioned this in the Nunes thread.. that he's far from being absolute shit. He's just not preferred by Pep because he's not elite technically for the middle but you saw it with your own eyes that we had more control of the Forest game with him in the RB/ DM spot than we did with Rico post sub and in the Brighton game.

So the same thing with happen again.. we'll buy Baleba and he won't be good enough for the middle. If Nunes's 84% pass completion isn't good enough for Pep.. Baleba's 70% definitely won't be either.

In our best seasons, the team used one defensive midfielder with two attacking minded midfielders ahead of him.

Now we have 2, Rodri & Gonzalez, I don't think paying close to 100m for another DM is a wise move.

Brighton players very rarely live up to the ridiculous price tag bloom sticks on them. Macallister is the exception and he was a bit of a bargain. Would love to stay far away from this lad
They really maximise their performances at Brighton and sell at a high price because of it.

I think the players that have left and underperformed have really gone to underperforming clubs. That one's that have gone to well run clubs have done well.

I think as long as you are aware that what you see at Brighton is really the best version of that player then there's no reason not to buy from them. You just have to be able to provide an equally good playing environment.
