Well documented fact is Phil had an appendix operation last year.
Crohn’s disease can follow from appendix problems which has been allegedly suggested he is now suffering from.
This disease is serious and will be difficult to cope with.
Just saying

It’d be interesting to see how City fans treat him if that were true, considering a healthy amount ripped the piss out of Darren Fletcher for it.

A year later.... It's still a team game, and Phil is one of the weakest players

Foden is a complete mystery, he was world fucking class last season but how does most of a team turn to shit ?
Yeah Kev and Gundo are worn out, but all the rest are now average at best including Phil, Eddie, Akanji, Jack and Bernie.

I'm fucking baffled.

Heard through the grapevine this week (from two separate people who don't know each other) that he's been battling more serious health issues than what's been rumoured on here. Think along the lines of Darren Fletcher.

Don't often come across info like this - but got chatting to someone who used to be Phil's personal chef until the summer, then got chatting to someone else who said Phil had recently hired a new chef due to health problems.

If it's true he's been suffering with something like IBD then he has my fullest sympathies. A really serious health issue that can't be taken lightly and can be absolutely debilitating. Hope he's on the road to recovery now.

The appendicitis operation was in March 2023. After that, he had a great season and was named POTY last season.

If he has Crohn that's serious and isn't really an excuse, there has obviously been a problem with him all season.

The truth is none of us know what is causing Foden’s fall off in form, it may be lingering after effects of illness that are outwith his control or it may be something he can control. One thing Seems clear to me, slagging him off in ignorance is on a par with the pundits who just assume tha City are guilty of all the 115/130 charges without having the evidence to know.

I didn’t know that, but agreed. I thought I had also read he had Covid last summer, and was struggling recover, but I honestly can’t remember the source - it may have been from on here (!)

I agree he’s been poor, but that’s one season out of 6 or 7 in my opinion. That’s not enough to say he needs a change, as you suggested.

Most of the team has been poor as well
