Bournemouth (A) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Don’t think the first half was that bad we made chances and should have been winning. What I don’t get is we’ve reached anFA cup semi final, for a record 7th time, and some posters are utterly joyless picking out negatives, many of the same posters were just as miserable last season too while winning 4 in a row.
Yes point out things that aren’t working but some just wallow in negativity, with no balance or awareness of just how good these 10 years have been and will probably continue to be going forward.

Unfathomable, but if you ever comprehend the thought process of some of our so called support, let me know.

Deserved win in the end. Even at 1 down we were still the better team, albeit this season that hasn’t always produced the win. Good to see Kev on form, good performances from Gundo and Josko and brilliant to see young O’Reilly make such a positive impact.

I am trying to work out whether Grealish not taking goal scoring opportunities was ridiculous or really contributed to the game management. Grealish had at least two attempts to bolt goals in at his own will. But he chose not to.
He set up a couple of really good chances. He played well.

Just remembered that fordygirl poster said it would finish 1-0 at half-time.

I'm sure he would have preferred to score (yeah, I know; no shit!). But I thought he was very good in his brief cameo. He added to the control we had in midfield in that second half. From memory, did Bournemouth have a shot on target after the break? I don't think so.

Good second half, that back line shift caught them off guard completely and the moment they energy levels dropped we moved into the safety zone. From 6-4 in attempted shots in the first half to 11-0 in the second.
Gvardiol took to playing his natural position like a duck to water

Thank Christ for subs. O'Reilly changed the game giving us pace, purpose and muscle down the left - he should be playing most games now and couldnt have made a better case to do so. Marmoush looked lively and scored the winner, whilst Grealish was absolutely the right sub for the final 25-30 mins - nobody better at keeping the ball and taking the sting out of a game; thought he too was excellent though he needs to remember to shoot once in a while. We started with 4 old men in central midfield - I thought Gonzalez and Marmoush shouldve started tbh - but by the end of the game we had lots of younger, fresher legs on the park which helped us see it out in relative comfort.

Only downside was Haalands injury which from the angle the Bournemouth player fell on his ankle/foot Id fear the dreaded metatarsal break. Lets hope its not too bad. On to Wembley again - let's hope we can get one last hurrah out of this group.

I remember at the title parade last year Pep said we'd be back for the FA Cup next year after the shitshow last May; Im hoping he keeps his promise.

A dererved win, thought for the most part we played well, good performances from Gundogan, KdB, Bernardo, and Kovacic (feared the worst when I saw the line up), even Nunes was OK after the 8 year old cross field "no look" stupidity (sadly he really isn't our level though, and he's not a RB).

Liked the control in the second half, something we've been badly lacking, thought Jack did well, though should be taking those shots on for me.

Wembley, we're the famous Man City.....playing at the Etihad South again.

He set up a couple of really good chances. He played well.
He also refused a couple of shots at goal.Took the wrong option with passing instead of shooting.
Did well though.
KDB controlled the second half brilliantly for us and Gundoghan and O'Reilly did great as well.
O'Reilly our player of the tournament so far.
