General Videogame Thread

Playing through Atomfall set in the Lake district, quite fun although the combat can feel a bit clunky, bit of a cross between fallout and stalker, loads and loads of British culture Easter eggs in the game including finding 4 candles and fork handles and 3 skeletons in a bath on wheels, I'm about 12 hours in and it's also free on game pass

Started Robocop Rogue City. Brilliant so far and a must buy for any fans of the original film. Several members of the original cast are also back to reprise their roles.

In between the usual shooting sections, you’re basically in a free roaming section of Detroit and are given main missions and side missions. You have to look for clues and conduct investigations which then lead you to the next big set piece.

Thought about this one for a while, you might have just convinced me

Dead parrot in the same shop as the candles, a tardis is on the Moor near the wall but when you get near it a noise strikes up...Fawlty Towers sign outside the hotel in the village...there's loads more.

I have come across the TARDIS one now, didn't notice the parrot though I'm into the woods now with the druids and have put two fusions into the interchange

Lots of rumours flying around that The Elder Scrolls Oblivion remake/remaster Which has been talked about for the last couple of years with be Shadow dropped on Thursday by Bethesda.

Going straight on to gamepass and Bethesda shadow dropped Hi-Fi Rush a couple of years ago so this could have legs

An Oblivion remaster (let's be honest they won't do a proper remake) will only show the world how little Bethesda have moved on since Oblivion. Back then it was scores ahead of the competition on consoles.

Now with Starfield it seems like a relic from the 360 era.

An Oblivion remaster is an easy win for them whilst they continue to do the next instalment. I'll upgrade...adding mods might be a bit of an issue though. Mods have turned Skyrim into a brilliant game.

Better off waiting for skyblivion…

Can't be bothered investing in a new console until the new Elder Scrolls or GTA 6 drop, at this rate I'll be playing them on a PS6. Bethesda need an intervention to stop re-releasing old games at this point.

I still haven’t updated to a ps5 or a series x, not seen any games yet that made me think I must get one…

Oh wow! Do you know if it's meant to be an accurate representation of the actual Lake District or is it more of a fictionalised map?

Fictional but has a great lake district feel to it, really enjoyable and free on game pass on pc, I presume same on Xbox as well so worth a play through

I've read some reviews complaining about the "skill tree progression" aspect. Any idea what the issue might be there? I'm debating getting this but not sure if I should wait until it comes down in price as it doesn't look like a £45 game to me.

Yeah you don't level up as you would in say fallout or an rpg, you find things out in the world and use the points it gives you to buy perks, if pc or Xbox I would sub to the game pass for a tenner play it through then cancel it

The skill tree is basic but functional.

You can complete the game in around 20 hours doing the main and side quests so the skill tree doesn't need to be huge.

The replay ability of the game is that there are 6 completely different endings depending on the choices you make, which faction you side with ect
