Holidays

Lots of deals appearing for Greece and Turkey for April and May. Seven night breaks with reasonable S/C digs starting off at £140 for the full package. Icemelor coming up sweet at £250 for 11 nights and Tenerifes los gigantes at £199pp.

Final day in Seville.
We are about a five minute walk from the first/last Metro stop at Olivar de Quintos. Always guaranteed a seat into the City Centre.
Somehow managed to book a guided tour of the Cathedral at the last minute but Salazar was booked out. The tomb of Christopher Columbus-wow!!!
After a glorious day yesterday @22 degrees it’s teatime and pissing down.

Civilised city.

Off to Funchal, Madeira in May. Any recommendations on things to do? Not hiring a car so needs to be easily accessible.
Been a couple of times its a beautiful island.
Very geared up towards hiking, trail running etc etc and not many sandy beaches. We did a few hikes in the mountains ,went to the local lido in Funchal ,Have a look on TA for local drivers we hired one for about £50/60 and he took us on an Island tour.Porto Moniz in the north is great as was Camara Da lobos and Ponta Sol..There is a madeira wine tasting place in Funchal called Blandys which is supposed to be good as well. One word of warning go easy on the ponchas(local firewater) lethal.

Just backing from 8 days in Spain
Had 2 days in Alicante which i was really impressed with ,nice vibe, old buildings castle etc and very very cheap.Had a day in Elche for a half marathon ,again very pretty little town and finished off with a few days on the coast just south of Murcia..Great weather and very good value for food and drinks.

Not been on 'holiday' for about 5 years now but wife and daughter are insisting i have a break soon. Wifes mate will move in to help her out and daughter said she pay for trip.
So the question is, where to go?
Looking at 5/6 nights with short flight time 2/3hrs, beach and heat, no English pubs, nice grub and a bit of nightlife.
Carvoiero, Portugal is favourite at the mo but Porto maybe. Even thinking of a really nice little family hotel in Benidorm old town as a base and then mooch around local more Spanish places nearby.
Any recommendations greatly received.

My daughter swears by Carvoeiro @stonerblue the family went last year and going again this year.
Personally I would go for the Amalfi Coast in Italy or Sorrento - three hour flight time and although touristy it’s not in a John Bull type of way and family friendly.

Has anybody visited Helsinki? As me and the wife are thinking of going Boxing day until New Years Day
