Holidays

Cheers - I may jump on booking.com
Was speaking to a colleague about Online Booking sites and I STILL believe they're not as user friendly as they could be.
As much as I love tech/websites/apps (and indeed work in that field) I'm actually contemplating trying a 'bricks and mortar' agent. The experience isn't at all sharp.

Never been to Palma but ticks all the boxes atm. Love Barcelona (and Ibiza) and I think this would be ideal for me and my boy.
Centrally for the better hotels (HM Palma Blanca was recommended to me) is a bit pricy, further out (7 miles ish) look ok but I'd have to factor in travel into Palma (I want a mix of relax/beach and a vibrant town).

Think I'm going to struggle to book for this Saturday (I've a lot on atm - the irony being I absolutely need a holiday), so may look for the week later. Weather should still be dandy. then right?

Train ride sounds amazing - did I read that as Soller may be an alternate place to stay (but with a train ride into central Palma?).

Thanks!!
Yeah we stayed in Soller and took the train the other way. The vintage Soller port to town tram let us down one night, well more accurately we had ‘one for the road’, missed the last one and could not get a taxi from anywhere back to the port area, so we left two days early and stayed in Palma as we had an early flight home and I was concerned about taxis to the airport.

Soller is a nice place to stay but Palma has a beach if you’re wanting a busier place.

I’ve always organised my own itinerary, travel and hotels. I quite enjoy planning them.

Just back from Cyprus, plenty of Russians and it wasn't really an issue. Don't get it
I wonder what route the Russians are taking to get to Cyprus. There are no longer the direct flights. I assume they are making the journey via Turkey and crossing the land border in Nicosia.

I would guess via Yerevan, there appears to be a lot of flights from there considering it is a small country with a reasonably small population.

I’ve witnessed many Russians (and Germans) firsthand in Turkey, rude, arrogant, obnoxious, disrespectful and discourteous twats, and I hate saying that because of Petrusha on here who is anything but, oddly though, there was a huge Russian lad there last week, over 6’6” and about 20 stone, really good nick, shaved head, tattoos all over his face, looked rough as, yet he was the most polite and courteous person you could wish to meet, but one he was an exception.

Second, certainly not the case in Turkey ( may feel different in the more Northern parts, I don’t know), I say that having spoken to many ex-pats/wives (with blonde hair) and kids (with blond(e) hair) they may get the odd look but it’s more in a ‘oh there’s someone with blond(e) hair, we don’t often see that’, but that’s it can’t speak for Egypt as never been, but Marrakesh certainly felt a bit iffy, 6 weeks or so after getting back those two young girls were found in the ‘Atlas Mountains’.

Muslims I’ve worked with and know here in the UK have always been smashing, so would say it was more of a ‘wrong un’ thing than anything religious.

It's each to their own mate, and agreed there are good and bad in every race. I'm entitled to my opinion as much as others on here would balk at my opinions, I'm as well travelled as the next man. All are informed opinions from first hand experience.

I've got pals over here who are Muslims, they have integrated into our society, some better than others. One in particular I could trust around my family which can't be said for many British people. I'd visit anywhere in the world alone or with a male friend, but I wouldn't be taking women or kids to certain places, that's just common sense. That is my choice, and I suppose some of us men have more nurturing instincts than others. Most Brits are too pissed to see in front of their own nose, they don't see danger.

Exactly.
Has he ever been to Egypt.
Or any Muslim country.
I doubt it

I went to Turkey for the final and had a great time, the locals were class and very hospitable. I would no way in hell take my Mrs there or any woman.

Albania is technically a Muslim majority country. I've been there and it's way safer than anywhere I've been in UK.

I'd go to Lebanon alone or even Pakistan if I was with pals with local knowledge, just not with women and kids. That is common sense.
