Holidays

Crikey dunno how you do that!
We've been in the "minimum two holidays a year" camp for years (other than COVID) plus I have my sprinkling of european aways with the lads each year too, and then there's jollies with work...
I know mate. Wife can't really travel now but we did spend ten years going all over the place before she got ill so not too bad

My daughter swears by Carvoeiro @stonerblue the family went last year and going again this year.
Personally I would go for the Amalfi Coast in Italy or Sorrento - three hour flight time and although touristy it’s not in a John Bull type of way and family friendly.
yeah, been a couple of times, in fact it was the last place we had a holiday together. Everything you need in a lovely little town.

Not been on 'holiday' for about 5 years now but wife and daughter are insisting i have a break soon. Wifes mate will move in to help her out and daughter said she pay for trip.
So the question is, where to go?
Looking at 5/6 nights with short flight time 2/3hrs, beach and heat, no English pubs, nice grub and a bit of nightlife.
Carvoiero, Portugal is favourite at the mo but Porto maybe. Even thinking of a really nice little family hotel in Benidorm old town as a base and then mooch around local more Spanish places nearby.
Any recommendations greatly received.
I lived in Porto for a year and it's a really nice place (though that was 25 years ago and will no doubt have changed a bit since then).

Good for relaxing and sightseeing but not the most exciting place in the world in terms of nightlife. There are reasonable but not outstanding beaches.

The weather can be a bit hit or miss though outside the Summer months.

I enjoyed it but probably not the place I'd choose if heat and great beaches are your main criteria. Well worth a visit otherwise.

El Campello on the trainline from Alicante. Very Spanish, a lovely beach, a long promenade with good restaurants and only 20 minutes on the train from Alicante city and 30 minutes to Benidorm if that's your type of thing.

That’s the part I was going to type but cut my Alicante suggestion short .
The area from El Campelo to San Juan Playa with Mucha Vista and Fabraquer in the middle is one of the nicest stretches of beach you will find .
Just pottering up and down this promenade was so relaxing . There are lots of places here to stay if you wanted to stay a bit out of Alicante . Budget to luxury .

We spent 3 months on the edge of Fabraquer and El Campello. We really enjoyed it-but don't tell anyone about it!

A mate walked in a travel agent couple of days after getting married, and asked what flights were available.....ended up in Helsinki for honeymoon, he said it was the best city he'd ever been to?
What did he like the most? We’re currently in the middle of planning a honeymoon trip for my son and his new wife, and Italy is definitely at the top of the list. The mix of culture, amazing food, romantic scenery—hard to beat! Plus, I’ve been checking out Alitalia https://alitalia.pissedconsumer.com/review.html and they seem to have some decent flight options at reasonable prices. Hoping to find a good deal soon so they can have a smooth and unforgettable start to their journey together.

Tbh it was a long time ago, we thought, obviously that it was the strangest place for a honeymoon, but they absolutely loved the place.....him being a very 'pale Scot and his Mrs a redhead, a 30° tropical beach probably wasn't top of their list.
Sorry can't help more, lost contact when I retired a couple of yrs ago, and he's not on social media, or would have asked.

Scandalous the Holiday prices in the summer holidays. £7k just put on my credit card for an All inclusive holiday to Paphos with the misses and 2 kids. Cracking reviews though . Not been there since watching City against Omonia Nicosia
