Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

Still need some response on more season tickets, the club themselves touting tickets via 3rd parties so away fans can get in the home end for big games and the up front cost of flexi gold. I wouldn't be surprised if what was announced today was this year's plan anyway, let's not stop the pressure on the other arguably more important issues!

I love the half-arsed begrudging tone oozing from every syllable of City's announcement. A nice touch of class from the club.

"Fine we'll freeze the prices for the plebs, but we don't want to appear like we've put more than a split second of thought and effort into thinking about the underclass chips and beer munchers."

Fantastic work from all concerned, City Matters and all of the fan groups who organised the protest, but most of all to the blues who protested, who made their voices too loud for the club to ignore.

It's the least the club could've done though. So while we should take this for the win that it it patently is, given the intransigence of the club over the last few years, it's only a start and there's so much more we need to do. General Admission (single match ticket) prices need to come down, not just freeze, and the club are still not committing to reintroducing new full season tickets.
Absolutely. We need upfront transparency on pricing. The Villa game, on a Tuesday night just before a trip to Wembley. is seemingly priced as a Category A game, which is ridiculous. If you have a 3-category system then they're Category B. And even that's too expensive currently (£61-£78).

I don't particularly like category pricing but at least everyone knows what the match categories and associated prices are going to be when the categories are published before the upcoming season.

But we need to look at the whole pricing structure, which is completely ridiculous. Our cheapest ticket for that Villa game is higher than the most expensive at Anfield for any game. And it's 70% higher than Arsenal's lowest price for a Category B game against Villa. The club has taken advantage of demand, based on our consistent successes under Pep but that's opportunism, not a strategy. Because when the success runs out, as it has this season, opportunism doesn't work and we're left with a mess like this.

I'd also like to see a clear linkage between season ticket prices and matchday prices, so that if you buy 19 matchday tickets, those will be 10%/15%/20%, or an absolute amount, more than the equivalent season ticket.

A season ticket that has a completely insignificant price if they are not available to buy.

True but we'll see. There needs to be some linkage even so. One of the complaints about. ticket exchange is that you get the pro-rata price if you put the ticket on there, but the club can sell it for the prevailing price for that game.

At City Matters we talked about potentially paying more to the ticket holder for a costlier game which would be a lot easier to implement if you had a better linkage between the ST price and the matchday prices. That might make ticket exchange more attractive.

No one is gonna cry for us in 93.20 but I guess we're not "general admission" and so will see a price increase.
What's the betting one of City's many spreadsheet guys has worked out how to increase overall match day ticket income while being able to announce this partial freeze.

I think we should look at making the block or even the next one along as well next to the away fans a special £30 area (ie same as the away fans). Tickets go on sale for the games on a rolling basis to try and entice younger fans in or those priced out back in. Seems odd an away fan is paying 50% or less than a home fan is for a seat 3 yards away?

93:20 is classed as GA and you can buy tickets in there off the normal part of the ticket website. The club lied when it said viagogo were only selling hospitality packages.

Freezing midweek prices against average teams in midweek games as a minimum of £61 or £71 is a disgrace given the drop in demand.

ST freeze I can live with as they have never ever been reduced by City, and only lower league clubs tend to slash ST prices when they have half empty stadiums.

This is a point I've made on this forum several times, usually shouted down by a legion of "happy clappers" who think the club can do no wrong.

Thanks

Thanks. Hope it stays the same. All we get is a lounge so it should be GA......

Quite good for Season Ticket holders, not great for matchday attendees. But it’s still a small win that I reckon would not have happened if it weren’t for the recent protest.

It’s still £43 for children at City next season when it’s £9 for children at Liverpool. Plus it did take them seven months to organise a meeting with City Matters about it. So let’s not start raving about the club listening to us.

A very small win, but still a win of some sorts.

Well done to those involved though part of me can't help thinking if we'd have been challenging on all fronts for titles things might have been different.

Next couple of games have seen season ticket holders allowed to buy additional tickets and club will be aware that a lot of the 'tourists' for want of a better word aren't as keen to come when we ain't challenging for the major honours and haaland isn't playing.

No one knows how long this rebuild will take and another price rise could well have seen a few regulars calls it a day and with an extra 6000 seats to fill towards the end of the year it was a gamble city probably didn't want to risk by alienating the fans so I guess it's a win win situation for them making them look like the good guys

This is welcome news of course. Good for us season ticket holders but I don't think a freeze in match day pricing is sufficient, given some of the match day prices this season have been extortionate - for kids as well as adults - which has put loads off buying tickets and we also have another 8000 seats to fill from the middle of next season. Also, we need some meat on the bones regarding Flexi-Gold and the upfront cost plus whether there has been a change of heart regarding issuing new season tickets
Totally agree with this, hopefully the availability of 8000 more seats will lead to more sensible ‘dynamic’ prices on a game-by-game basis.
