Maybe Pep is sick of playing wingers who contribute nothing every game.

Seemed like that system worked nicely today.
He might not be the best player in the world .but he's a young blue who has the knack of scoring a goal..even if he's not having the best game he gets a goal.
I'm made up for him
I'd love to see a city team with 11 lads like him who support city and come through the ranks
We've seen us win everything..only thing better than that is proper blue lads getting in the side..well done James.

Top scorer at the club in goals/minute , yes , including you-know-who ...

If that's right .which I don't doubt you are right is impressive.
He to me is just one of them players who just ends up in the right place to score .that's a skill that can't be trained.
It's just instinct.
Haaland obviously has it.
Robbie Fowler had it.
I'm not comparing this kid with those two great goals machines.
He is also mainly a wide player b

ut to me he has a natural instinct to be on the spot .
He will score even if he's having a bad game..and the other thing with him..if he is having a bad game.
If he has a few bad touches or gives it away a couple of times.
His head doesn't go down.
He keeps going.
When foden was coming through and I'm not picking on Phil but if he had a bad touch his head would drop.
He would go into his shell.
I'm talking before this season.
This season I feel like he's hiding and not showing for the ball like he should do and used to.
Mcatee isn't as skillful as Phil but he's going to have a very good career in the game.
And score more goals than Phil.
I just hope it's at city

Correct. Two early misses v Palace, but he kept on making runs and showing for the ball - got his reward in the end. With more playing time his confidence , and finishing - already good - should improve further.

Could he possibly evolve into the Alvarez replacement we need ?

I hope so..id much rather give him a chance than pay 50 million for a foreign player who isn't any better than him.
Look at silvinho great feet .
Great ability to beat a man.
Is he any better than this young local lad.. end product mcatee in my opinion is better..he does the hardest thing in football..he puts the ball in the net.
Like doku on the other wing.
Amazing skills to beat a man but he couldn't score if I was the keeper
Jack is the same .
Brilliant player
Really seems like a proper top bloke.
You can't help but like him..loads of ability but what's the end product.
We've got a local city fan here who has the knack to score a goal.
Play him..and nico oriely.
Sorry can't spell his name and I'm dyslexic.
Which one its own is hilarious how can a word that means you can spell be so hard to spell.
Thank fuck for predictive text.
I have to put a post up.
Then spend 5 minutes editing it.
Arh well could be worse I could be a rag

I'd keep him, i think there's something there

I reckon he'd be behind Bobb in the pecking order though, when he's up to speed
Room for both.
If mcatee leaves city he will go on to another club and be a real top player.
Like palmer..at Chelsea.
I think city were right to let palmer go..but it might sound weird I think palmer is a better player than mcatee but I think mcatee has a better attitude and could.
Could end up having a better career.
I just hope that's at city

Not a chance!

He is not City standard, if City’s standard is competing for 4 trophies per season and going deep in all of them, while winning a few.

He can be a squad player. I suppose, but he should want more than that. He’s got a drawer of medals, so now it’s time to go and enjoy his football, week in, week out, with a smaller club.

I can’t see any way that he thrives in a Top 6 team. He is pretty skillful and has a nose for a goal, but he’s “meh” in every other regard and should have scored 4 today. He lacks speed and physicality, but isn’t good enough to live off his wits.

As a local lad and City fan I really want to like this lad but I have never known a home grown kid show so little personality and passion on the pitch.

He is clearly a talent but lacks that certain something for me to make it at the top level.

Sounds like he could be off to Germany , either Dortmund/Bayer, would be a great move for me to find himself.

I see a lot of Ferran Torres in Mcatee. Doesn't have exceptional physical tools, but all the mental tools are there in abundance.

He is the quintessential role player in a top club.
I would say the opposite for me, he has the ability but is mentally weak, all about opinions!

I think by 'mentality', you are talking about his attitude. I.e having a leader's or winner's mentality. I.e. someone who wants to stamp their authority on a game. That's not what I mean by ' having all the mental tools "

When i say mental abilities, im talking about decision making and movement. The way he slows down to stay open, stays on s defender's shoulder, find open pockets in a crowded box, how he times his run to perfection etc. These are all mental qualities.

When i say he has no exceptional physical tools i mean he doesn't have an amazing shot like Fodsn or Marmoush, or control like Bernie or Mahrez, he isn't super quick or exceptionally athlete nor does he have the suddenness of say Doku or silkiness of Savio/Bobb. Every physical tool seem average.

McAtees style.of play is more a young bernardo, not quite a winger and not a static attackig central midfielder but the old style inside forward.

That is the role you look at using him to replace/replicate, yesterday he got in good positons and was calling for balls to him regulary, and got into goal scoring opportunities, some he missed, but unlike savio and doku, when in such a position he had a crack rather than fanny about with step overs while defenders regroup and then ultimately hitting the last man.

He isn't an out and out winger like those 2 or a mezzala like Kev or treqaurtista like Gundo in his prime, he would operate probably best in a 4-3-3 or with a strong fullback behind him, but ultimately he has shown he offers more of a goalscoring threat than our other wide options due to him actually tying to score not pass back.

Him and O'Rielly another attacking midfileder by trade always try to score if in position, something we have lacked the last 2 seaons from out flanks

That's my impression too. But he's played so little that I can't really be sure... unlike Lewis about whom I'm dead certain.
