87 | James McAtee - 2024/25

LOL

Palmer got tons of chances.. maybe not as many as he hoped but he got chances. His own injuries and lack of versatility got in the way.

There's 2 ways to get into a Pep team.. either be the best in the world at your position or be versatile enough to play multiple positions.

Cole is a 1 position player and there were better players ahead of him while he was here!
He’s a 10 and he can play on the wing. Is that not versatility?

what like Nunes, Doku or Savino - none of which are world class or really versatile. Palmer is much better on the wing than both of them as well

You can’t expect young players to be instantly world class either. We need to think long term with player like Mcatee who has the potential to be a top player

It'll be a damn shame if he leaves.

I don't understand Pep's reluctance to give him a real shot.

I get the approach of not wanting to expose kids to the criticism and difficulties of a poor run of form.

But Mcatee's not a naive, inexperienced 16 year old who's at risk of falling apart due to too much pressure too soon.

He's 22 and he's battled relegation with Sheff Utd.

He should be treated as a proper first teamer and given some starts to prove himself.

Speaking of terrible, have you seen Gundogan, Walker and Lewis this season ?
Lewis has been decent.
Not sure why you added him to that list.
Lewis decision making on the pitch makes up for his physical shortcomings.
The first time I watched Mcateer play, I knew he wouldn’t make it in the team simply because of his decision making. He’s very talented but plays for himself most of the time.

The FA cup game will be on soon.
Watch his performance in the game without any bias and you will understand why Pep prefers to play a 50 year old Gundogan than Jamie.

Good fucking Riddance then!
Pep derangement syndrome has infected the fan base. Just post a manifesto so we know what's OK to say or not say. Maybe pass out some little Buddha-like statuettes. Maybe some type of clothing indicator for the angry clappers to wear to indicate their presence to those who blaspheme...
lol ok.

I’ll watch you vent your spleen after every match that McAtee sits on bench and never comes on. I’ve made my peace with it.

Enjoy his run out against Salford. (If he’s still here)
I'm not necessarily upset with McAtee not playing. I'm sick of watching Walker, Gundo, Rico and whoever else screw things up only to reappear for another 90 minutes of shit. Then rinse and repeat.

One of Rico and Walker has to play if Akanji has to play in the middle. There’s literally no one else to play at right full back.

Similar story with the number 6 position really, if Kovacic and Rodri are both out, we only have Gundogan to play there. Pep tried Nunes for 15 mins vs Feyenoord and it didn’t go well. Similar story at left fullback for Nunes.

McAtee hasn’t gained Pep’s trust, for whatever reason, and that’s why he’s the perennial unused sub.

something is rotten if all the players are doing great in trainings worthy of being named in first 11 then we seem them like half dead, no press, no running, no tackles, no urge in them...
This is all such a bunch of shit. Let's all slag El Mago off now since he had the balls recently to say after a while Pep can become a real pain in the ass.
Question: were Yaya and Zaba any worse than the current Gundo and Walker when Pep practically gave them das boot? I'm saying Gundo and Walker specifically because if truth be told neither should be anywhere near a pitch wearing a City kit in 2024-25. I don't give a fuck if we had 25 injuries. The ongoing buffoonery we're watching backs this up...

Wright or O'Reilly must also be lost causes if they can't get a look in over a completely washed Gundo. If that's the case we're in even worse shape than many are saying...
