City Paid Out £52,126,339 In Football Agent Fees in 2024-2025

When will the players see that it could be all theirs and get rid of the pimps once and for all
You’d end up with players on stupid contracts because they don’t have a clue about money or taxes, nor what is a good wage or not, especially those from abroad.

Having someone with experience to guide them is probably for the best for both player and club, although the cut they take is definitely up for debate.

Which is probably why they should fund their own agent from the get go, it's an incredible system really.

That's embarrassing considering the lack of quality recruitment over that period. It isn't like we are buying Haalands every window, we aren't even buying loads of players so how are we getting fleeced that much?

They probably do have other advisors. It’s not much different to contracting really in IT for example. I pay for an accountant, insurance advice/premiums, personal IFA etc, but for the actual work I use intermediaries who know the firms looking for the skillsets I have and they get paid by the firm, not me.

It's the scary amounts mate, I can't find a way to justify people having access to a great big slush fund while fans get taken to the cleaners.

Probably a significant portion of that is for Haaland senior and the lady agent of Erling. As the other incoming players were not that extreme maybe apart from Marmoush. I would assume agents of , Savinho, Khusanov, Reis, Nico G, got something line 2-3m each. Gundo's agent shouldnt have been too much either.
Marmoush's agent maybe 5-6m?

but can see the team behind Haaland git a big fat amount for the 10-year deal. otherwise it doesnt up add up really this 52m since February of 2024.

did we have any other bigger player that renewed since Feb 2024? cant recall.

Foden, Gvardiol, Rodri imo will sign new contracts soon too so we have to spend on their agents too. plus all the summer incoming players will be a big total agent costs again especially if we land 1-2 top names like Wirtz.

this is how it is, we need to lick ass for the agents and sweeten the deal sometimes so they drive their players to us. the master of this is Jorge Mendes, he must have made a billion from agent fees over last 20 years easily or even more. he charged every big club in 10s of millions at every transfer and at every renewal.

KDB represented himself for his last contract, players can use the PFA but most use an agent has it's easier

I just see it as one big pot of money. It won’t be getting better either, more likely to go the other way like America.

Incidentally, I wonder if the reason the club pays the agent and not the player is due to legal reasons in the UK. HMRC state …

“ If you run an employment agency or employment business you have to follow certain rules. You cannot charge a fee to a work-seeker for work finding services”

Among other things.

Did you not notice Haaland 9 year contract, the agent will have wanted a big fee for that.

Just get a good wife instead, they are good at money and what amount of shares you should be getting

Performance based I’d imagine, so for the so called shit players people cry about in the match day threads, they’ve won stuff and so I’m assuming the agents fees increase as a result.

Fuckers, signing for us and doing what they’re paid to do.

So agents get performance related pay? That is fucking absurd, on top of the player, who will get a handsome wage, with their own performance related bonuses, which then extends to their agent if they play well. Didn't have a clue that happened and no wonder the football world is completely broken

No I don’t know, it’s just a pure guess on my part. At the top end like that money is almost simply not an issue due to the huge amounts of it. Not everyone dines at that table don’t forget.

I wonder if it gets dedicated from players earnings bit by bit.

Bit of a different scenario but I was in a band that signed to a major label and when going through the contract, we had to get a proper music lawyer with experience in majors, but they cost £500 an hour and obviously we were skint at that point, so basically the label fronted the money...only they didn't, they just whip it out of bands advance. So we did pay, just not directly.

I wonder if it's a similar scenario. Probably not, probably just agents rinsing the clubs
Out of interest mate, what was the name of the band?
