The data is supplied the ONS - The Labour force data has been subject to criticism for some time from the Resolution foundation - article below from last November...It’s a bit of an eye opener isn’t it?
The fact that the revised population data and projections - when applied to the employment/unemployment proportions reported by the Labour Force Survey - essentially suggest an extra 400k workers than previously assumed.
The revision has pretty big implications for the UK’s productivity data and as such the likely structural state of the public finances, which are now seen to be materially worse than previously assumed. That is of course if you place any great weight on the Labour Force Survey data, rather than the more reliable PAYE based employment data.

Looks like they have conceded that they were wrong and not a reflection of what is currently happening.
The ONS is going to be reviewed as to how fit for purpose it is and I would imagine the answer will be not fit for anything.
These are the guys still refusing to go back to the office for even two days per week and working to rule etc with potential of strike action if they cannot WFH full time - all whilst the quality of their output and productivity is going down the pan.
3 months notice back to the office full time or sack the lot !
