Rumours Bernardo may leave | Still 1 year left on contract

There is an annual end of season myth that Bernardo wants to leave City. Its gone on for years now. I always ask for someone to signpost me to anything that substantiates that myth and nobody has ever been able to do it.
Same here, and not one mind-reading poster has furnished me with anything even remotely like evidence.
Same people spouting the same shit for 5 years and now they have 2 threads to spout their bollocks.

We don’t have to have the discussion with Bernie personally, he’s got Jorge Mendes as his agent so not out of the realms of possibility that a pontential departure is being discussed when catching up about other incomings and outgoings.

If true, this needs to be a mosaic as a tribute.

The brilliance of this picture is that he looks like any one of us playing on a Sunday morning. Dressed in the dark, hungover to fuck with a sugary brew and a look of disgust on his face.

What a fucking legend he has been for us. That goal at Villa Park was unreal

Instrumental in our destruction of Real Madrid on the way to winning the treble

Bernie has been amazing in his time with us. Genuinely feel like it’s time to part ways and we should let him go on a free as a mark of respect for his contribution to our unbelievable success in his time here.

This sounds like it could be the first time that the club are trying instigate his departure, rather than persuading him to stay.

You just have to wonder whether a rest and down time could get him back, he's only 30. But clearly we want to build for the future, Bernie is on good money and i think him and Grealish will probably be gone - that's 3 of the top 4 earners that will be gone.

Bernardo's magic, work rate and consistency was out of this world during our most successful period. A unique player.

It does, however, feel like he may need a new challenge to rediscover his best form.

His speed has never held him back due to his magnificence with and without the ball. But it feel more of a hindrance now that he's lost a bit of spark / energy.

One of my favourite players of all time.
Hugely underrated. Was at one point the best player in the world for me.

The KDB decision is a masterstroke from the club.

This moves informs all players that you are for sale if performances don’t improve and funny that, we started to look abit better and the top 5 is a realistic prospect once again.

If we can tell kdb, a legend of the club to go we can tell anyone in the squad.

So although I am sad to see legends leave. Not just because of the player but also the person. Bernie and kdb both exemplary examples of good business by the club.

Players are certainly on notice now. Stay fit be available and put in top performances or you will be sold.

Grealish
Stones
Ake
Alanji
Kova

On this list.

Doku
Savio

On the need to do better list.

I've seen every kick of his over the last 2 seasons.
And how do you know he'd have left?
Guardiola spoke several times in summer 2023 about how Bernado was keen to join Barcelona, and in fact he gave similar interviews in 2022 about how Bernado could leave if a deal was agreed with the club.

I’m not sure why you’d deny that.

Players are certainly on notice now. Stay fit be available and put in top performances or you will be realised at the end of your contract and we will pay you another £10-20m up to that point as you can't sell a player against their will:

Grealish
Stones
Ake
Alanji
Kova

He’s only 30, he should easy have another 2 or 3 years at the top level with us. Not only that, Pep loves him. If this story is true, it shows just how bad Bernie has been over the past couple of seasons.
It could also show that the club has been reading the match day threads on here and decided that some of our fickle fan base what him to go!
He's been a great player for us, worn himself out over the past few years with all the football and just needs a proper summer break. But hey ho the short memories of some of our fans say get rid. :-(

Although Bernardo is only 30 you'd think he would still have another 2 seriously good years left with us.

Unfortunately it's not the case, Bernardo has ran himself into the ground over his time with us, He's more than likely covered more distance than 4 or 5 players combined! No wonder he looks fucked, He's given his all, He's gone above and beyond for this club.

It's the right time for Bernardo to go, He's an absolute legend and he's loved by every single City fan, Nobody could have a bad word to say about Bernie, Over the years he's also grown to hate the Dippers and Rags just like we do.

He's one of us.

Much the same as De Bruyne: love him to bits, forever grateful, but it's the right time.

Hope we drop the asking price so he can get a move to Benfica and finish his playing days at home.
I’d love that for him. Been a superb player for us and a top Bert. I dont mind if he stays for his last year but I can see him being happy back at benfica.

You mean the club don't go around randomly telling key players they have no plans for them in the future at a crucial stage of an ongoing season, and then telling the media about it?

Ha, exactly. Nobody had a clue about Kev, who was actually out of contract this summer.

Kev said he was sat on the news for a week.

Last week's reports about Benfica were followed up and he told staff it was news to him.

Not sure he’s properly finished. Our system struggles this year have exposed players with less physicality. Lewis being another prime example.

He’s a dribbler that needs players close to him, which he hasn’t had this season as they’ve stayed deeper as they’re scared of counter attacks.
