Morgan Gibbs-White

People keep talking about the fee being high but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the team taking Grealish from us. Because of the wages they won’t want to pay a high fee, so they won’t. But because of PSR they have to be separate deals. Although Grealish will leave for a low fee his real value because of the high wages is almost double and will be completely off our books.

So MGW in for approx 100m & Grealish out for 20m cost us 50m plus MGW wages which will not be super high. Say we double his current wage the transfer will cost us 60m with Jack going the other way.
McAtee i think is the card in play here, going off recently rumour.

Basically a net gain of fuck all then. One massively overrated player that hasn't really worked for another

Just going off a quick Transfermarkt scan, Bayern have had four Italian players in their entire history. Barcelona have had five. City have had four too

Again, doesn't seem odd to me

And Pep definitely tried to sign Jorginho

Jorginho is really Brazilian

If Grealish had anything about him, he isn't joining that tinpot club.

He is someone I’d imagine the rags signing for big money if they win the Europa league. They love splashing out on mediocrity. This will be a huge error if the club do this,he’s not the guy.

Agreed.

What i don't understand about this potential signing is... we could be losing Mcatee for probably around 30m and also lose Grealish for about 20m tops due to his high wages.

Are we really going to lose two players for around 50m and then go and sign MGW for 70m plus?

Makes absolutely fuck all sense. Grealish alone is a better player than MGW.

I just do not see how MGW is 40m plus better than James Mcatee.

If the club bring this guy in... i will really question if these people on the board are really the right people to take this club forward in the long haul.

We are in a transitional stage now where we simply cannot afford to make any errors in the transfer market... certainly not take expensive calculated risks on a player that's never played at the very top level before.

All eyes will be on Hugo Viana and co this summer... please do not fook this up.

I understand we’re gonna need English players but I simply cannot get behind this signing. His numbers aren’t amazing. The fee is outrageous. The position he’s filling is disrespectful. There are other options. Promoting another academy kid, buying an actual B2B like Reijnders or a forward like Cherki who can play across the entire front line and in midfield. He’s gonna be another Grealish

Rather see us paying 120M for Liveamento than MGW who gives us nothing for 70-100M. The club should be on the rails of Reijnders but knowing the board the obvious ones ain’t the ones we going for for whatever reason. If he wasn’t English there would be 0% interest. There‘s Camara out there from Monaco for a lower fee if Pep wants pace at the CM position.

A 10 who‘s not even the required standard switching from the 10 to the 8 position - plays in a counter attacking system and has low stats for 100M. We have a rat in the club

I honestly "don't mind" MGW as a Kev replacement, from a playing position any way. What I'd like to see happen though, should we get MGW over a Wirtz or similar is that we add quality creativity somewhere else on the pitch. If that's out-wide, slightly further back (number 8 sort of role), full back. Anywhere really as long as it ups the overall creativity in the team goes up

How many times have you watched Reijnders play out of interest? Or even Camara at Monaco?

MGW is quite simply being discredited because he plays for Forest and he’s not playing abroad with a funky surname. Have a look how Vitinha at PSG is getting on who was at Wolves…

One of the biggest - and I mean huge - problems that we have at the moment is Foden.

Gibbs-White Reijnders would be excellent to take over KDB (with Reijnders also capable of performing Gundogan's role), getting Wirtz in would leave Foden out of the team (as they both play in the same position, and Foden wouldn't - IMO - be a capable replacement for either KDB or Gundogan).

Now we'd obviously be loathe to do that based on the fact that he's had one terrible (yes, I said it) season, but we can't either have a repeat of what has gone on this season and hope to compete for the PL or CL).

It'll be very interesting to see - if we did go bonkers and try for all 3, or even just Wirtz & MGW - who Pep chooses to re-position, and where.

I'm easy either way, completely trust the club hierarchy to get things right in the summer. What I will point out is there's probably not a signing we've brought in since the inception of this forum that hasn't had a slagging in one respect or another. While I'm not saying this lad could ever be as good, Rodri's early pages I'm sure make for interesting reading.

If this is the way it goes, you have to give these things a chance and lets not pretend we couldn't use this kind of energy in our midfield.

Ive watched several games of the national team since I have Dutch genes thanks to my mother. Same with milano games and Reijnders was most of the time one of the best players on the pitch. Maybe many don’t watch the other leagues but I do. Same with ligue 1. I grew up in France thanks to my dad’s job so I took a liking in the league and certain clubs.

Of course MGW can get better. But I just don’t see it. The better option would be someone who actually plays the position his life not another English guy who might not even play the position he played his whole life for 100M.
I don’t buy a winger for 100M to turn him into a fullback and this here is a similar case.

Reijnders and Camara are the better 8‘s. Again MGW is lucky he is English

Foden is at his best coming in from the right.

Wirtz has played that position only three times this season.

This isn't a real problem.

Strange post, seems more to dislike one of our homegrown blue blooded players in favour of someone who doesn't even support our club. Or is anywhere near as good as foden.

Foden was poty season before last. The whole squad has been poor. Foden certainly hasn't been the poorest. I don't see a need to get rid if you're saying that? I mean remove foden doesn't solve how shit we have been.
