Hiking thread

I'm looking to do a 5-6 day coastal walk either in Portugal or Italy.
What started it was seeing an advert for The Fishermans Trail in Portugal.

I've looked through this thread but it's all UK walking. Has anybody done any coastal walks abroad. I am looking September October time (international break)

I'll give you it starts with a P the same as Portugal but........ :-)

I've done a fair bit of walking in the UK including coastal walks on the Llyn Penisula and Cornwall.
I'll have a look but at the moment looking for abroad.

Cheers anyway for the reply
Never done a walking holiday there but the Amalfi coast is spectacular

might provide some inspiration?

Cheers. I love Italy and have done some inland walks. I did look at the Chinquetera (sp) but all round the there is over populated. There is even a one way system some months due to volume of people.
A quick glance of what you've sent seems much better ta.

Wasn't a "walking holiday" but we did do this around 2016 - spectacular views

It's looking favourite at the moment but I need to do a lot more research.
All I can find at present are where a company shift your fear each day.
I'm looking to try and plan it myself

We got a company to shift our gear for each trip, they were pretty good and it made it fairly easy.

I'm sure you'll be able to organise it yourself, some of the small hotels do get booked out though. We ended up doing a long leg because one of the villages was booked out not a problem on a bike having a long day but could add quite a bit of extra walking.

I hiked the Cinque Terre coastal path in Italy years ago as part of a general walking holiday in Northern Tuscany which I can highly recommend. It's only a days hike, but the scenery is stunning, it's not too difficult, and Northern Tuscany was, in those days 25 years ago, a forgotten part of Italy which added to the charm.

Madeira is a beutiful island with many wonderful walks along their Lavadas, which would easily occupy you for 5 or 6 days. They aren't all coastal paths as they extend all over the island, but you are never far from the sea and they all have their varied scenic moments to remember.

Anyone recommend a decent backpack for hiking, need to carry a couple of liters of water in it for the dogs, comfy as possible.

Just back from the top of the Great Orme in LLandudno; straight up from the tram station at the bottom. The first 15 mins or so is quite steep but then it levels out and there are hours worth of trails all over the hill. Well worth it, great views from the top, you can see for miles on a good day.

Are there many sheep about? I’m trying to plan walks where I don’t need to put my dogs on leads too much otherwise it’s nit worth it.

You have got me thinking now. It sounds great, organise it yourself, carry it all, etc.
But ....... if it goes wrong....
That said, do you know where I could find the route without approaching a company?
I look on the net and all it seems is organised stuff. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places, I never was much good with the internet :-)

Looks like this has some ideas.

Taken from here as an overview.

Now that is good. Many thanks.
I'm going to start researching that.
I'll let you know.
None of those days are excessive mileage wise. I can do 10-12 without a problem, the 15, why not.
