Im sorry, is that really called for ? Surely the purpose of the forum is to discuss the potential impact of the changes as regards UK jobs and the wider economy.

As to what I can see after reading what is available, there are 2 parts in relation to physical labour.

One which is a limited number of Indian nationals who for a period of up to 3 yrs will have their NI waived, these will still be subject to the visa rules and minimum salary requirements. There is a reciprocal agreement for British workers in India. Depending on who you believe there may be pressure to relax the visa rules in the future.

The second and more concerning part is around "assurances" regarding digital services in IT, telecoms, engineering, finance and similar. The details of this is unclear but considering the amount of offshoring of work on government contracts that already exists, if this is further expanded and I say if, it will damage the UK services sector.

It's sort of like NHS dentists. An NHS dentist is equivalent to Kevin De Bruyne choosing to play for Accrington when he/she could play for City instead and earn £300k a week. That's why there are none and NHS appointments are probably a loss maker for many dentists.

Already lots of work is outsourced abroad but it’s very rare, in my opinion, for foreign workers to move over and suddenly take someone’s job because they are willing to do it cheaper. The job sector doesn’t work like that in the mid to high level sectors. It might mean certain job sectors become more competitive and it’s harder to find future jobs but a competitive marketplace tends to make for better quality.

I specifically mentioned Deliveroo drivers. I don’t think they are crucial. I’d rather we paid people a proper wage as well, instead of being addicted to cheap labour and low wages.

As I said huge numbers of people aren’t coming here to work and don’t have jobs lined up. For me it’s the numbers that are completely unsustainable. 600/700+ thousand is too much.

I used to work in the tech sector and could see lots of jobs being outsourced to places like India, as it’s cheaper.

Of course people move here because they can do work cheaper - not sure why your only mentioning mid to high level. It’s happening all the time in the healthcare sector. You call it competitive - I call it an unfair advantage.

So your answer is to what, raise the minimum wage significantly whilst also halting immigration? You’d kill certain businesses. Not saying that is a good or bad thing but it’s total nonsense there’s hoards of Brits unemployed because immigrants are “under cutting” them.

My wife works in the NHS. Most of the Brits get the better paid jobs whilst they have to actively incentive people from other countries to come and work for them because there simply isn’t British people either willing or qualified to work. They continuously struggle to recruit. That’s the truth.

Which part of that quote that I replied says its a good thing, your view is quite obvious.

The one thing that amuses me about supply and demand is that we are told hey ho that's life the demand is there sunshine unlucky.

Except obviously when business come a cropper and the demand for jobs isn't there, they then create the demand.

The answer to shit jobs with shit pay imho isn't to get others to do it. As you said slaving away for not fucking much hence the reply mentioning slave labour, you actually started it off with your own post.
