Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

he needs to build a team that can come up vs current Barca, PSG etc an beat them. we were shit vs current version of Real which is significantly worse than any Real side we faced last few years.

lucky thing Barca and PSG was laughing stocks recently in CL and turned it around. we can turn it around but Pep need to change lot of things and recruitment need to be more hits than misses.

I don't think he's got enough time left with us to do that, and I don't think we're going attract the number of players (in the next two windows) of the calibre needed to turn things around quickly.

The way pep talks about have a strong dressing room where players sort anything out when players have problems arguments and the way Dias spoke after the game, also pep sticking to the experience long time players, I feel if pep isolate them don't pick them he will lose something in the dressing room! He will never leave a senior player out the squad sat in the stands unless he is injured! It's why Haaland and Akanji straight back in the squad when fit.. it's a strength for pep this loyalty but when players are getting old they start to lose something it starts to be a weakness..

Did Arne Slot had enough time ?
He had the players, he inherited a very good squad.

Our squad is a shambles, unbalanced, old and tired and a manager who has lost his love of attacking football.

Do any of our fans enjoy watching this side? Second half vs Palace at the Etihad apart we are a hard and dull watch.

The main thing that has stopped us this season is the injuries. Even accounting for aging players, we'd be close to, say, 84-85 pts in the league if Rodri was available. Without him we can't control games and lose quality in both phases. He's more influential than prime anyone, David, Kun or KdB, even though it's hard to recognise him as such, for his work doesn't catch the eye to the same extent.

Once we get Rodri back and inject more energy in the team, we are likely to go above 85 pts again which would make us a strong challenger for the league.

Slot inherited a better, fresher squad than we currently have. He took over when the PL top 6 opposition was (still is) at it's weakest for years. Add to that that he revitalised Liverpool and brought fresh ideas.

Pep's system is as stale as old bread. Our players are either past it, not good enough, worn out, or can't be bothered.

A change is at least as good as a rest. The City Group bosses put all their eggs in the Guardiola basket and they're now out of ideas on how to replace him.

The next three years will be a major task for the owners.

Oh Agree if Rodri was 100% fit all season those games we lost or drew in the final 15mins before new year we would have won them.

It like when Liverpool lost VVD they struggled if they had lost salah this seaman Arsenal would have won the league..

After januarys transfer window & most of the players coming in getting splinters on their arses on the subs bench with hardly any minutes between them all can he deliver, trust them & play the next lot?

It's premature to write Pep off. The truth is, it's too early to tell.

Anyone who pretends to know that Pep is finished overrates his acumen. It's funny to see so many fans pretending to know better.

Last season he achieved something unique in English football, 4 in a row. We were in for a consecutive Treble as late as April and might have been pretty close to it had we been a bit luckier vs. Madrid.

7 months ago we broke the record for the longest unbeaten run in Europe.

I doubt Pep's finished.

Depressing but perfectly summed up!

Maybe not 'finished' but almost certainly on the downhill slope.

He's overseen the rise and decline of the best team ever to grace the PL, one of the greatest teams ever.

All good things come to an end. The current squad is a shadow of those from 17/18 to 22/23, even though many of the names are the same... It's a tired, ageing squad, supplemented by average/inadequate youth and new signings.... Playing a tired and boring system under a tired coach who has seemingly run out if ideas.

Pep still has a lot to offer football, but he's not doing it at City any more. He's older, tired, and has stayed for two seasons too long.

The club needs a fresh start. Unfortunately, poor succession planning has left a tired, depleted squad for any new coach to inherit. It all sounds very much like Ferguson at the swamp to me.

We should be in a far stronger, better position to go forward than we are. That's 100% down to Pep and the owners.

The owners have had it very easy for 10 years or so... Its time for action; time to see just how good they really are.

I would also say did Klopp feel he was beginning to have voices in the dressing room questioning him?

His timing of saying he was leaving was a strange one and maybe Slott found himself like Pellegrini walking into a dressing room that just needed a bit of TLC given to the players.

As others have said, Slot's real test will be next season but Arsenal apart I can't see any serious challengers including ourselves sadly.

Some fair and genuine points, I do feel Pep has become almost untouchable in terms of criticism from the ownership , which if true is not healthy for our club.

I hope Khaldoon and Viana sit down with him at the end of the season and are asking some very straight question, one being is he really up for a full rebuild and has he the energy that would take.

It would not surprise me to see him take us to the club WC and then leave.

The PL is vastly overrated and over hyped. The simple fact that our 24/25 squad is in the running for CL qualification shows just how poor the standard has been in the PL this (and last) season.

I don't think the match day support is reflective of this forum tbh. I've not encountered a single supporter in real life who thinks Pep is finished or thinks that City are on some mad downward spiral. It just takes a little bit of perspective to realise this season is an outlier and that the team will be infinitely improved next season with Rodri back and a handful of reinforcements.

My hope is he's got a new team in the garage ( including the new signings), just running the old one into the ground.

Agreed our 4th on the bounce title was for me one of our weakest sides under Pep, it relied on the brilliance of Rodri and Foden to get us over the line, we often looked very underwhelming which made the lack of activity in the transfer market very strange and wrong.

I would add Pep's marriage situation is sad, unfortunate but ultimately not good for our club. Recent stories suggest the couple are willing to give in "another go" and Pep said he would spend more time in Barcelona, again if these stories are true, it's to the detriment of our club and that is all that matters.

peps finished again? we must have dropped some points.

Scrolling down this forum I've learned that Pep isn't the only one. Haaland is shit. Dias is shit. Foden is shit. Doku is shit. Savinho is shit. The board are shit. The owners are shit. We're basically finished as a football club. It's remarkable we've not been relegated this season.
