The Squad planning thread

Sort out keepers, then

Wesley (seems done)
Cambiasso/Kerkez
MGW
Reijnders (need both 8s with Wirtz over)

I think we can work with that for next season, need Pep to really go all in on the attacking fullbacks imo.

Why cant we just get a proper set of full backs. A right back who plays right back only. And left back who plays left back only

Because that's the basics of football.

If you preach the basics of football to Pep.. you get shipped off to Everton!

In a Pep system you must know left back, left wing, right wing, right back, inverting inside, making overlapping runs, passing it sideways and polishing the bench seats!

Vanderson - Dias - Gvardiol - Kerkez ( sadly impossible now) so Cambiasso.
Bobb - Rodri - Reijnders
Savinho/ Foden - Haaland - Marmoush/ Doku.

The problem here is that when you compare it to the PSG offensive options. Not only can ANYONE of them dribble and take on 1 or even 2 players but they also all can score with both feet + they all have the freedom. With Haaland compared to Dembele we are stuck with a more static game. The wingers could still interchange but Pep will definitely need to change the tactics and go for two fullbacks to support Haaland and the wingers more. Can’t expect the wingers to stay outside to dribble past 1-2-3 players and then pass the ball to our 9 or even shoot and score themselves.
Pep has to drop his ego and accept that his inverted bullshit is over.
Mendes and hakimi just showed how much of a nonsense this inverted RB bullshit is.

Rodyrgo and Doku give us width. With Wesley bombing down the right wing.

Stones is playing CB mate.
Rodrygo isn’t a touch line winger. He loves to go centrally. Like a hazard. I laughed because will be too busy being sold. The guy is never fit we used to get 25 games from him now it’s 20. 545 mins in the league ffs. I like the team idk about Wesley he doesn’t move me

Yep good team. Seen people getting tired of our”woke” football lol

Given Viana’s pool has historically been Portugal, it would be surprising if he didn’t fish there while his knowledge of it still remains fresh. Brace yourselves for the post-Wrirtz world and 'Manchester City have switched their attention to Pedro Goncalves..'

Trincao, if anyone

Are we going to become a slightly better version of wolves ;)

MGW being the first wolves inspired signing

Going to take more than a season for us to be fully back on track.

I would be happy with top 3/4 next year at this rate.

Not trying to be clever or sarcastic, but is that the lad who flopped at Barcelona a few years back? Just trying to work out if it's same one.
yeah, smashed the portugal league this season.

Similar career path to Vitinha in the end

Ederson (or new GK)
(New RB) Dias Gvardiol (New LB)
Reijnders Rodri Gibbs-White
Foden Haaland Doku

Ortega (or new GK)
Nunes Khusanov Akanji Ake
Bernardo/Kovacic Gonzalez O'Reilly
Bobb Marmoush Savinho

Keep one of Bernardo or Kovacic, let the other go and move Gundo on if possible. Would rather stick with Ederson but we'll probably let him go.

Reis, Lewis, Mukasa and Echeverri making up the numbers.

Last night the telegraph seemed to get a brief saying we’re after four players 2 full backs and 2 midfielders. I’m assuming that’s Wesley or Livramento, Ait Nori or Cambiaso, plus
Reijnders and MGW.

I’m guessing City haven’t briefed one way or another what they expect to happen with Ederson but after last summer I think there’s a good chance he’ll be off to Saudi Arabia.

The Wirtz news isn’t a surprise but the links with Olmo are confusing. He’s regularly injured but very happy in Barcelona. Doesn’t make any sense to me l.

think the Olmo chat is bollocks tbh. just makes zero sense to invest in him

Let's see if PSG win the CL before going to over the top about how amazing they are. Tactical flexibility is key, and Pep is the best in the business at it. Don't mistake his pragmatism this year for stubbornness or ego. He's trying to get the results we need and sacking off his principles to get them.

Can’t get rid of the other 2 since they have another year left. If we extended KDB we wouldn’t be able to go for any players
Exactly. We can't force players to leave if they don't want to go.

Bernardo still has something to offer IMO, just not as one of the first names on the team sheet. And I would rather move Gundo on, but it's not like we'd get anything for him. We'd probably have to pay some of what we owe him even if he left on a free.
