Manchester is reminding me of New York more and more.....

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
Theres nothing you can’t do,
Now you’re in New York,
these streets will make you feel brand new,
the lights will inspire you,
lets hear it for New York, New York, New York
Manchesterrrrrrrr

Manchester, England, England
Across the Atlantic Sea
And I'm a genius, genius
I believe in God
And I believe that God believes in Baldy
That's me, that's me ........

Viana is going to have a very tough job..

Players that need to be moved on or Pep will play them over everyone new:

Akanji
Stones
Gundo
Kovacic
Bernardo

We have to create a scenario where the new guys can gel in.. not be treated like Nico/ Khusanov where they can't even get a game because Pep trusts the old guys.

If those 5 stay.. they'll all play 3000+ minutes next season.. Pep just can't help himself!
Make no mistake mate I don’t think any of them are going and next season will be the same. Needs taking out of his hands.

Whenever Pep leaves City he will be considered a legend. We need to be careful what we wish for. Yes, the football can be boring to watch at times, but that is because in the Premier League most of the teams we play against park the bus. So, yes it is boring, but that's mainly because the opposition decide to park the bus - in effect, they choose to play anti-football to try and steal a result. Against CP we were trying to score for the majority of the game and either we did not convert our chances or we could not find a way through against a team that rarely kicked the ball all match. Defensively we look more solid and I am sure we will get rid of the players that cannot do what is required and get some hungry new ones that can. Bring on next season.
You make some good points

However if we are that solid defensively how did Palace score with their one and only attack in the first half

That happens a lot these days. We have all the possession, lose the ball once and before we know it we concede.

That would be a catastrophic mistake if it plays out like that - if wirtz was the only other target we were looking to bring in after the january signings we could well be in for another torrid season

As fans we are all too aware of how other teams setup against us - its not just fresh players needed, its a total rebirth in a style of play - this now is Peps greatest challenge, and honestly i think the first 10 games of next season are going to be pivotal

I am praying Pep already has fresh tactics and a system lined up that we will start to showcase during the CWC. If we flounder through that tournament going into the new season then it wont fill us fans with confidence

It's upto us to find a way to break teams down and at least try something different.

Some of Pep's tactics this season have been questionable, his substitutions even more so and his blind loyalty to under performing/ageing players has been ridiculous.

This season stinks of Pellegrini's final season with us. The tactics used have been very similar.

Pep's the greatest manager that we've ever had but no one is bigger than the club and no one is beyond criticism. Including him.

Buzzing probably none

Optimistic - Chelsea in the first game as we swatted them aside easily

Enjoyable performances Newcastle and Chelsea at home
Yeah, i’d probably struggle to think of any others. Both those how games are opponents played a high line which allowed us to use the pace of Marmoush and Haaland. When teams don’t do that it’s boring and we look fairly clueless on how to break teams down.

If he goes and brings the likes of grealish Lewis and mcatee out of the cold tonight we genuinely might need to section him not that them players can’t do a job but it would just be absolute madness to leave them out of cup final then go ask them to get us 3 points days later

Do managers have many different ideas of how football should be played?
All the greats have ‘a way’ and eventually it goes to shit because other managers counter it and they dont have an answer

Sounds like super complicated 4D chess,
but in reality we are always facing the same deep sitting static defence with fast forwards ready to run our slow high line into the ground.

I want to see more smart ideas to play to the opponents' weaknesses, instead of playing into their cards.

One of the biggest problems I think we have with Pep is the way he uses or doesn’t use new players.
From 100m Grealish over Doku/Savinho to Omar and Nico G.
We are still old team before these players came in. It opens many questions about new players. What are we getting with them if they end up in overthinking balloon.

I agree. We need to find a way to score against the anti football teams.

One thing we'll never know is what goes on behind the scenes at City. If we did, we might understand his team selections more clearly and his tactics. Equally, Pep may be in a high stress situation due to his marriage break up and his judgment has been impaired this season. Don't know. Maybe one day we'll find out why Grealish never gets a game and why Pep kept picking certain players.

We've been spoilt over the last several years. I'm going to cut Pep some slack for now. He's got a few credits in the bank.

I suppose I was looking at our stats over the last 10 games. We have been better at the back over that period. That said, we are not scoring many either. If it was easy for CP to score against us why did they not do it again during the match? They barely had the ball all match. The final was the epitome of a smash and grab. Luck was on their side. They are a well organised and have some promising players, but they will only ever be a mid table side with anti football tactics.

I posted on Saturday that it is Pep’s job to find a way to break well drilled defences but his decision to bring on Foden then stick him on the right touch line and play tippy tappy with Akanji was bizarre.
