Bernardo Silva: “Something has to change. You learn who you can go to war with, first of all"

Noticed Foden has done that a lot this season.

Maybe it is a symptom of his frustration with his own performances and inability to produce what he knows he is capable of ?

He clearly isn't firing on all cylinders, and health issues have been alluded to.

They were bought for two reasons:
1. Stopgap due to injuries and Walker leaving. They fulfilled that purpose for Jan/Feb until players returned
2. For the future. None of the the players bought are anywhere near their prime. A player like Nico should have been bought 12 months earlier to help prevent the injury to Rodri
If they bought them for the two reasons you state then whoever signed off the deals should be strung up by their testicles.

1. If a driver was Walker leaving then why the fuck did we not sign a stop gap right back ?

2. You don’t spent £200m ‘for the future’ when the present is an absolute car crash.

What other club would spend £200m and have only one player anywhere near the first team on a regular basis - some not even on the bench.

These weren’t £10m punts on young players - we paid top money for them to be making an impression this season.

When you have had pathetic recruitment for 5 x transfer windows you should not be getting £200m to spunk on stop gaps and possible future players.

Nico seems to have been discarded arleady. Paid double what he’s worth and will probably on loan somewhere next season. Same with Khusavov and Reis too.

From what I've observed this season, I believe Shearer is right about this. Not only that, but if we fail to qualify for next season's CL, I think Pep will quit, which would create a real challenge for management, and just maybe, one last chance for Grealish. I never wanted Jack in the first place, on account of his partying lifestyle, but he hasn't been a disaster at City, just a disappointment, and he is far from alone in our squad for that.
If Shearer told me that the sun was shining I would go outside and check three times before I agreed. In other words that biased little fisherman is a bit of a nonentity to my mind. :-) (JMHO)
Why am I not suprised to see bullshit clickbaity headline is not what the actual report is.

Also who gives a flying f*** what Alan 500 goals but 1 trophy Shearer thinks
Wow did he actually win a trophy I don't believe it. I thought he must have won at least 100 trophies the way he goes on and the way the know nowt media worship the ground he walks on.....I'm sure the media think he walks on water and can make 5 loaves and 2 fish feed every football fan in the world!! He is an irrelevant personage as far as I am concerned.

Stones, Walker, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodri, Mahrez, Sterling, De Bruyne. All round about £50-75m. Those were players ready to play and make an impact.

Defenders with 1 proper season in professional football costing around £30m or less are absolutely punts (spelt correctly) for the future. Not shots in the dark, but not in any way ready compared to what we've done previously.

So I disagree that they should have been making a difference this season. However, I totally agree with what you say about the previous windows. A couple of the players should have been sure things, but these weren't them. Next season will determine if theyre bargains or mistakes.

No, he's too young for me. I love him like a grandson. (He's young enough to be my grandson!!) :-)
Oh lovely you are so cute x BTW I'm old enough to be his mum. However he is very easy on the optics....! Lives quite near me but I've never been lucky enough to see him about. Perhaps as well for his safety - only joking!

Enjoy the rest of your special day x

Quite clearly Savinho is one of them, absolute wimp. Does that thing I especially dislike of stops playing when he thinks he has been fouled & waits for the whistle.
Nowhere to be seen when the chips are down. Wouldn’t surprise me either if he’s referring to Haaland. Completely disappeared in the 4 finals he has “played” in. Hope not though, love the guy

Figured Savinho out when he went off with that season ending injury against Spurs away only to be in the squad next game. Having said that I do think he's worth persisting with, there's a rough diamond there that needs a little polish.

You could have use any combination of 4 letter words and got more likes ;-)

I'm going to assume there's no end of season CityTV documentary this year...

I reckon it's been a nightmare in there. The January signings must have wondered what they've walked into!

Fresh faces and the existing ones needing a massive reset is what's needed. It's a massive, massive window for Viana. I wonder if he expected it to be this big a job initially?!
I think it'd be viewing gold for city fans, opposition fans and neutrals. It's easy to be open and transparent when everything is going ok, it takes real character to do the same when you're up against it.

You are indeed the prophet of doom.

Hard disagree with that about Jack. He's a £100m signing who's our third highest earner. He was very good for four months in the treble season but since then has barely kicked a ball. That's entirely down to him and his lack of professionalism.

I think the biggest failure of the club has been the failure of the hierarchy to challenge Pep regarding the rebuild. The whole idea of having a strong board is to challenge and push the club forwards.

I can't fathom for the life of me how they sat comfortably in meetings with the manager and said that this squad was fine for the season. It featured four midfielders over thirty and a DM who's cried out for support and said he can't play that many games again.

To not replenish and refresh is madness. The squad been eroded in quality and quantity for years. Those problems become even more exacerbated when you have injuries and players approaching the latter end of their careers.

The fact that we've spent £180m in January on players who've barely played is a worryingly concern. We shouldn't be in a race for top five having spent that money in January.

I don't like Bernardo's comments because he's been one of our worst players this season and we've got two huge games left. It looks like there's no harmony in the squad at all.
I agree that part of his problems at City are down to, as you noted, lifestyle issues, but certainly injuries have also played a huge part in his difficult situation. He'll be gone this summer, anyway.

Otherwise, I believe that this a fantastic synopsis of what has gone wrong this season. Awesome, dude.

Haaland even if he goes missing at least gets into the physical battle

He usually goes missing in matches because he's in the defender's pocket.

He's not been up for a real physical battle since his first season with us. He's awkward rarher than physical.

He's a whinger who's lost his edge, probably through boredom waiting for decent passes that don't come.

Yeah something has to change. You and the old guard need to be moved on. We can't be nostalgia merchants and stuck in the last. We are a business and a serious football club who wants to win and be the best in the world again. We need to look to the future now. Thanks for the memories Bernardo, Kyle, Kevin, Ilkay, Stonesy etc. Its time for a new era. If we keep persisting with the dross expect us to fall further behind the dippers.

bernie is 30. there is no need to turf him off due to age. agree about stones, gundogan, ederson, walker and regrettably de bruyne. albeit the latter could have stayed if we were going to pay him a lower salary. he has now been fit for 7 months and the performances have been slowly improving.

i think one of the big problems weve got is the home grown criteria. we are lacking massively in quality there - must be the reason mcatee stays.

grealish isnt going anywhere. how are we shifting him anywhere

Nunes, Grealish and Doku would be my guess. Hopefully things will change next season with Rodri coming back from injury

Were you at the match calling KDB "dross" last night?
