Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I get Pep's need for a small squad. His squads are packed with high earning talent and he needs to be able to control that. It means people getting game time and keeping players happy. I think for him less is more. Less people to get on board and buy into what he is doing, and less moving parts to have to worry about. Has it blown up in his face this year? Yes. Have we been massively successful and able to keep top players happy and at the club? Yes. Its the way he does things and until now it has worked very well.

That's obvious. The owners haven't got a clue what to do without him. He’s probably bigger than the club now... something that should never be allowed to happen at any club.

It's a bit of a quandry really isn't it? As fans we are split with opinions and split 3 ways.

Support the club?

Support the manager and players?

Support the fans?

Whilst it is possible to support all 3 most of the time one thing that will always be the right thing to do is support the fans because they are very much like you and are every bit what makes the football club what it is.

Same man that wants a small squad is same man rushing players back from injury because he doesn't trust the young players stepping in. Maybe O'reilly et al have changed his mindset regarding that? But on the other hand things like our future CBs getting 0 game time recently puts doubt in there. Dias and Akanji will be picked regardless of form or fitness

Bizarre to you, not to me. That extra year has probably added another two years to the much needed rebuild.

Succession planning and activity was more important than 4 in a row imo.

We had the opportunity to make history by doing something no team has done in 130 years and took it. We are also the first team to win a domestic treble and reach 100 points. If personnel and recruitment goals are more important to you then football history, I suggest you switch your focus to something else. Perhaps the thrilling exploits of the HR Dept at a major financial institution or the corporate restructuring of food and beverage conglomerate would be more to your liking.

All these cunts twisting Peps words, along with the ones who want him out. Be careful what you wish for. You don't know what you've got until it's gone.
How are they twisting anything, it's a literal quote:
He said: "I said to the club I don't want that [a bigger squad]. I don't want to leave five or six players in the freezer. I don't want that. I will quit. Make a shorter squad, I will stay.
Not a lot to be twisted there really

Bless. It's that type of thinking that means we'll never be as big or legendary club as Real Madrid.

Most of our squad has been running on empty since winning the league last season, and we weren't properly prepared for this season.

We've done well to finish top 5 this season in a poor Premier League. Liverpool have walked the league with a very average side. With better planning post-CL win, we could have won the lot this year. We just haven't had the legs.

We probably need to lose about 6 players, and bring in 2/3 maximum.

Not sure how we’re going to make it work with all the centre halves though.

Gonzales can deputise Rodri, as well as rotate alongside him. Nunes is fine at RB. I think we need to buy a left back, a midfielder or two but that’s probably it.

If Eddie leaves then straight swap.

Grealish, McAtee, KDB, Bernardo, Reis on loan, Bah on loan and then realistically we need to lose Gundogan and a centre half but don’t think that’ll happen.

We are not in top 5 yet...all the clubs have those off seasons once in a while, i dont know what needs to happen to see Real finish outside of top 4 in Spain.Huge difference between teams over there ,but totally different case here in England. Great summer recruitment and city will be back fighting for titles next season.

Nothing comments. We know he doesn't like a huge squad and the hierarchy aren't going to do what he doesn't want. It'll be the same as usual 18-20 1st teamers and the kids bringing up the rest of the numbers.

What they will do is trim the current squad and bring 4 or 5 quality players in.
Yeah, clear the unstrusted and unavailable, crack on with the usual Pep squad size. Time to be Ruthless and Honest with a few lads.

Yes, seizing the chance to make history with unique achievements is simply no way to reach legendary status. What were we thinking by prioritising the winning of trophies? Madness.

Before the injuries to Rodri and Kovacic we were top of the league. Latterly we have the best results in the Premier League.

Logically we need more players to reflect the increasing demands on players.
That mad winter form notwithstanding wed have pushed Liverpool and probably fallen at the last hurdle.

The football hasn't been ideal but during that run we barely had eleven senior players to field.

I just don't understand how anyone can say the problem wasn't the squad this season.
