By his 23rd birthday (Doku's age today) Mane had scored 6 goals in 25 for Southampton.

He was quite prolific at Salzburg before that move to Southampton.

FWIW I don't see Doku reaching Mane's level as a goalscorer, but he other qualities which are really useful to us.

Under rated by many. over rated by a few. I think the team has sometimes let him down by not supporting him, getting closer and running off him. Often takes 3 players to shut him down.

I think playing on the wing is one of the most unforgiving positions on the pitch as your expected to beat a couple of players and then bang a goal or play a KdB cross whilst running fast. Doku's touch is decent and his ability to go from a standing start and accelerate past defenders is world class. We moan when we come up against deep defenses and say the way to beat it is to have dribblers - Doku is the best dribbler in the league and if I know it's rare for him to hit the far post (Villa being an exception) then sometimes it's up to the rest of the team to make him look good

Pretty much world-class in every area until it comes to goals and ends products.

His vision can be suspect too. But he is a keeper.

Would like to see next season Pep not adapt the team to him.

That's what we have done partially, allowing Doku wide left.

Instead continue with the LB wide system wherein Marmoush goes inside and has more freedom to linkup with others, and shoot.

Then rotate Doku in that exact same role, I think we see a more complete Doku if you do, not one isolated on his own for the full game, but one who can go wide and do 1v1s, but also be in the centre and shoot and linkup.

All well and good being able to take on your man and beat him but when you have no cutting edge in the final third then i don't see the point, If he doesn't improve soon he'll be off

The end product parrots and boxscore watchers will not like this. But he really is a joy to watch and every team hes in relies so much on him to create because they know how much he opens the field.

I don't think he has truly gotten a fair chance this year.

The entire team has been a mess, injuries all over the place with a very weak midfield. Which have allowed teams to pack the box and our midfielders can't get to the edge of the box fast enough to allow Doku to cut it back to them. Teams picked up on that and just double him and Haaland up giving him no outlet whatsoever.

He is clearly the best dribbler in the league and arguably the best in Europe, and just needs to develop the shot. I think having a young healthy midfield, with a creative player in the center who can shoot, who is available on a consistent basis, will allow him to not get doubled up and allow him more opportunities.

The flashes of the talent are obvious, and he knows what to do, he just hasn't had the tools to do it.

Every player deserves at least a 2nd year especially under pep. He can improve in the final third and so we shall see how it goes this season. But improve in the final third he must.
