There are a few of the England Womens squad who've fallen in love with the celebrity side of things, and indeed themselves, a little bit too much since the Euros and last World Cup - Earps, Kelly & Toone prime examples of this.

How many more bloody podcasts can there be or profiles focused more on their social activities than what they do on a football field? Youd think Mary Earps invented goalkeeping the way the media harps on about her.

The stark difference between the Womens and Mens game is illustrated graphically by the Cub/International football balance - in the Mens game Club football is everything and international football an afterthought; in the Womens game its completely the reverse.

Amazing to see the likes of Hemp, Greenwood, Roord etc miss months of football for us, yet remarkably turn back up fighting fit and uber ready for the Euros this summer. Purely coincidental Im sure that they returned to the fold only after the season was effectively already lost for City. The players primary focus in the Womens game is clearly on the national side of things - thank god it isnt in the mens game.

It's where some of the women make their money. I don't fault them for wanting to be included in the national teams and using that as a way to put more money in their pockets.

It's common knowledge women footballers don't make nearly the salaries men make. I'm not here to discuss why. We all know why. Men's football is more popular and brings more money in than women's football.

It isn't as important to the men because the clubs are where the big names, and not so big names, in men's football make their money. If it's such an affront to people, they are certainly able to contact City with their concerns and request they not allow the members of the women's team to be made available for international duty.

From The Guardian article "City believe he suits their model for a technical style of play and that his coaching and tactical philosophies fit City Football Group’s preferred profile."

So don't expect much change then. If only there were a tournament coming up where we could see his team in action...

Talking of which, Denmark are in the same group as Germany and Sweden so, although 12th in the world, are unlikely to qualify to the quarters.

It'd be a bit like finishing above Chelsea and Arsenal...

Battling for third place in the league again it sounds like. Seems that is the level the club finds acceptable and thinks the fans should as well.
 
Yeah that’s certainly not the Sonia Bompastor-esque marquee manager signing I’ve been hoping for. Hopefully we do well under him though and it turns out to be a rather astute appointment


I’d imagine no champions league football has hindered our search
 
The interview process should have been simple:

Can you win the league?
Can you handle a big squad without alienating players on the fringes?

If either answer is Yes then that's an improvement from where we were.

I think it's 50/50 as to whether we're in a fight for 3rd or whether we can challenge for the league. 3-4 signings (CM CH possibly LB and a forward/#10) and a favourable run of injuries should make us competitive. If our signings are European focused makes sense to leave them post-Euros so we don't end up with a repeat of the Shimizu situation from last year. (Though on the plus side, she is effectively a new signing and good to go in September.)

These are the games Denmark played over the past 13 months or so. Jeglertz won 9 out of 15 games, 60%, which at first glance looks fine. But having a closer look, he lost all games against the decent/strong teams: 1) Spain, twice; 2) Sweden, twice including the most recent 6-1 hammering; and 3) The Netherlands. He also lost once to Italy (0-3), which are not so good, and defeated them once (3-1). Apart from that, he was able to defeat the mediocre/weak teams: 1) Czechia, twice; 2) Belgium, twice; 3) Wales, twice; and 4) South Africa.

If we take his results to the WSL (I know this might not be exactly the same), most likely he will win many games, but he will lose the key ones, including to Chelsea, Arsenal, and United. He may also lose the odd game (his loss to Italy) to Tottenham, Brighton, West Ham or Aston Villa. I am afraid we will be getting another “yes” man whose mission will be to agree on playing the “City Football Group’s preferred profile,” and it doesn’t matter if this profile is suitable for our women players and also regardless of winning trophies. But, in the great scheme, who cares about winning trophies as long as the women adhere to the “City Football Group’s preferred profile” and keep passing the ball aimlessly for 90+ minutes. I am afraid the Club and City Football Group have been obsessed by too much of the “holistic approach,” even when obviously this approach is not working for everyone and every team. Very disappointing, at the least.

Yeah, not sure losing to those teams is too much to go off mate.

I’m not massively inspired by the appointment either but just have to hope that those making the decisions believe he can push us on
 
Just looked at the Sweden-Denmark highlights...ouch. Even Filippa Angeldahl scored. The second goal is exactly the sort of goal we need to be cutting out.
Denmark/Italy are pretty much on a par now; Italy have been steadily improving in recent years.
 
How do you find out what shirt number the players will be? My daughter wants the new England Lionesses shirt with one of them on but doesn't know what number they'll be

has been a winner of trophies at the top level

And is regarded by top players as a good choice so as to encourage existing top players to stay and other top players to want to sign for city
