Punk and New Wave thread.

That’s awful news. I certainly wouldn’t go as far as to say I ‘knew’ him but on the many occasions I saw Conflict back in the day, I’d have little chats with Colin and the other lads after the gigs, a good few times.

It’s weird because I’ve never once been to any of the old band’s gigs, despite being encouraged to go to many over the years. I always thought it’s best left with the memories of the time, rather than watch Middle Aged men trying to relive their youth, for a few quid.

But for some reason I’d decided I was going to pop along to the Star and Garter on Sunday, just for one last hurrah with my favourite band from the old days.

All my love to Colin’s friends and family.

as some of you know i have a fair few friends within the anarcho scene.

this won't be in the musical press and i expect it to be kept amongst ourselves...

he was attacked and punched in the stomach the day before their last gig.
another singer stood in because a doctor advised colin not to perform.
At a gig or out in public?
That’s awful either way :(

Just seen Lesley Woods (supporting Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew at the Ritz) she said there'll be an Au Pairs reunion tour in January.

Conflict playing Star & Garter in June day after Morrissey at CO-Op live.
So sad mate. Never really into conflict although I saw them early 80s once or twice. Did he manage to sing at Star & Garter?

Just watching the golf and a Canadian Nick Taylor was interviewed after his round. He had his very young kids with him called Charlie and Harper, he couldn’t be a UK Subs fan could he? Just a coincidence I would imagine.

Cool name's. Never hear of gim before vas i don't follow gilf but at 37 I'm thinking his mum and dad played UK Subs and he's got into them. Really good band imo and much better than most people realise. That's if they've heard of them and their music.

just watch a documentary on the jam
never realised they were the first punk affiliated band to appear on top of the pops
every day is a school day
