I see why Doku can be frustrating - he has certainly gotten under my skin more than once - but he has such tantalizing potential. You just can't teach that pace or 1 v 1 ability, and he's got to leave defenders scared shitless even on an off day.

That being said, he does need to improve his consistency and overall play / decision making in the final third. Which is no small thing. But you don't have to squint too hard to see what it would look like if he can pull it all together.

Every player deserves at least a 2nd year especially under pep. He can improve in the final third and so we shall see how it goes this season. But improve in the final third he must.
He’s going into his third season with us.
Hopefully we get to see the required improvement with his final ball, as well as our midfielders and forwards making better runs in and around the box, and then we will have a very special player on our hands.
With the new signings replacing some of our older (slower) players, we’ve got exciting fast football just around the corner, can’t wait to see us in full flow.

You can buy attacking players with speed but no point in walking them over the half way line, then expecting them to operate in the last 20yards when defenders are then back waiting for them.

With the players we’ve already got and the ones we’re going to sign, I would expect our football will be more like the Sterling / Sane type attacks than the pedestrian stuff we’ve had over the past couple of seasons.

Not to sure about that. Teams set up differently now compared to the early Pep days. Even when we do have chance to counter, Pep is scared shitless of losing the ball and it becoming a basketball game. I get it, it was a big reason why we won four in a row.

The way I see it is now is Pep has nothing else to prove. I think he should let the handbrakes off a little bit, but I don’t think he will.

The players we are buying says we will.

You would think Marmoush will be first choice from the left for starters next season. Especially with a left back who will actually bomb on. Doku could also really benefit from said fullback though as it will be harder to keep doubling up on him and should give him more chance to drive at people in the box. Obviously next season if the one he needs to kick on in if it’s going to happen for him here.

Great squad option though and well worth giving another year. As if he does just add the final bits to his game in a more progressive attacking side than last season then we’ve got an unbelievable player on our hands. If he doesn’t kick on i’m sure plenty of clubs would still take him off our hands for a decent fee.

Good because in all honesty it's been unwatchable shite.

Sterling and Sane actually made runs in behind though. All of our wingers besides Marmoush want the ball to feet which makes us easy to defend against in a low block. We're not going to get that space since teams are happy to sit back, but overlapping fullbacks and runners in the middle should occupy the second and third defenders marking our wingers. That should provide that little bit of extra space for Doku and Savinho, but they need to pick their head up and make decisions fast enough to actually capitalize on it.

“Tantalizing potential” Nail on head. A very frustrating player who teases incredible moments but just cant deliver consistently…yet. Just whether the ‘yet’ will arrive.

Doku is a brilliant sub. Agree, marsmoush shoukd be inside left with alt-Nouri giving the width. Bring on Doku to run the full back ragged later on.
