London bound Air India 787 Dreamliner crashes at Ahmedabad

I love watching those air crash investigation & there have been 276 episodes in 20 years. Although they are catastrophe and fundamental mistakes have been made, usually down to the aircraft companies priorising profit, it's less than 1% of planes in the sky at any moment
Some of those demonstrate amazing investigation skills by those responsible bodies. I remember one where they discovered that a certain insect nested in the pitot tubes (airspeed measurement device), blocked them and caused a crash. I believe they are covered up now when an aircraft is static.

Just seen another clip of that lone survivor walking away from the burning wreckage. I’m not having it he was on that flight. The flames coming from the wreckage will have been enough to burn him alive.
I think it's natural to assume it was virtually impossible to survive, but stranger things have happened in similar circumstances.

Wasn`t it ice blocking that tube that caused the Air France disaster ? Will have to watch that episode again .

I've been in the aircraft industry for 39 years, and I've seen a lot of dodgy things going on, and it amazes me how more planes don't crash.
But most planes crash from poor maintenance and human error..
On a side note, I personally don't believe that guy survived that plane crash.

Don't know how it is in India but I'm fairly certain they'll know who boarded the aircraft prior to departure.

I'd have thought that they would have easily found out if he was or wasn't on the plane by now and announced it.

This is how batty conspiracy theories start.

Following up on additional areas of interest — Airworthiness Directive issued in May effective June for potable water leaks into electrical equipment bays on certain 787s. Certain pilot forums suggesting this was once a problem on 74s and created issues at rotation. Again — not speculating on cause — just trying to advance the discussion.

There was a problem with the 747 freighters as the MEC hatch was in the main deck cargo bay, so when they loaded the cargo in the rain there would be a lot of excessive water sloshing around on the top of the pallets and if this was not removed, on rotation this would empty on to the floor and find its way down into the M.E.C and could potentially cause issues .
Not sure the passenger versions had the same problems

Appreciate that, thanks.

Strange that in over 2 weeks from finding a black box there's been nothing official released.
There was a documentary on Ch5 last night. It didn’t give any new answers but the nature of where it fell means it’s going to be a while before they can reassemble the fragments onto a frame. Just finding the pieces is going to be a challenge.

My thoughts are that if there’s something in the flight recorder data suggesting a technical failure then we’d be seeing Dreamliners grounded by now.

Time for a song:
“It’s a mystery, it’s a mystery
I’m still searching for a clue….”
