Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Why are you so annoyed? Is somebody forcing you to watch? You aren’t going to convince people enjoying the games they shouldn’t be. You sound like a paid up member of the red cartel.
I’m not vaguely annoyed. I’m looking at it like I did our trips to the Isle of Man, but with £100m as the prize money.

I’ve only watched highlights so far but I’ll watch the later stages.

Like I said previously I want to see City win every game. Whether that’s the first team, the women, the U16s or the Junior Blues.

I’ll be annoyed if we’re physically fucked and falter in the last few months of title challenge though due to this tournament. But let’s wait and see if that happens first.

As your username suggests that’s the SPIRIT

Absolutely. I keep saying that the tournament will draw big interest in the final stages. A semi between City and Chelsea would be a hot topic even for English media.

A final between City and, say, Real will be more watched overall than the CL final.

Those who don't get it are being in denial or a bit slow to understand what's happening.
Some people who attacked this tournament have already made fools of themselves.

I do find it amusing just how passionate people are to say just how little they care about the tournament.

If it didn't interest me, I'd probably just ignore it rather than insist in telling everyone I see just how little it means to me.
They protest a little too much don’t they. Perhaps it’s the same ones who hated European football till 2023. It’s funny how they allow themselves to be manipulated by the fake news media.

The last line is good advice. I hope you take it.

Will the tournament have that big an impact physically on next season? If we reach the final there’s then a 5 week gap before our first PL match. No doubt the players will have a 2-3 week break as they would if they’d played in an international competition. Then a couple of weeks before the Wolves match. The players wouldn’t be out of condition so just need to top up their fitness levels.

Traditionally players had several weeks off, lost condition and then needed an intense pre season to regain it. We’re essentially keeping the player’s ticking over fitness wise. And, because the players are under City’s control rather than their country’s, their workload is being managed better than if they were on international duty.

Perhaps a bigger issue might be that the players don’t get the chance to switch off as they would if they’d had a longer break. Mental tiredness might be a bigger problem than physical fatigue

and in 1930 only the world cup final sold out - no other game. and the prices were only equivalent to 45 quid at today’s money. but as a competition it never caught on did it? i bet there is absolutely nobody who has a clue who won it now. it must be impossible to know
Very few 1966 World Cup matches were sold out. We had tickets for the Wembley SF v Portugal. We went to the Goodison SF the day before and bought tickets at face value outside the stadium.

Even the Final in 1966 only had a crowd of 94,000 in the 100,000 capacity stadium. We won a draw for tickets for the Final but were unable to go because we were on our way to Italy on holiday.

If City get to the final that’s 7 games, not much Less than any other pre season ,but a higher level , not sure what ur point is ?

10 people at the PSG and Miami game so I heard ;_)
I know you are joking but PSG have not played Inter Miami. Out of interest Iooked at the BBC football match report for PSG's last game vs Seattle and the attendance reported was 50,628.

I’m not buying the concept of player tiredness. All of the other Premier League teams will convene for preseason next week, followed by energy-sapping trips to America, Asia, and Australia. If we reach the final, as I believe we will, our players will have more than a month before the Premier League season begins, allowing them to get away, recover, and then return pretty much match fit for the season. I don't like FIFA or Infantino, but this competition has a future; don't be misled simply because a few client red top journalists are doing their clubs' bidding by attempting to undermine it. United, Liverpool and Arsenal would give their right arms to be playing in this.

Like Rodri, Foden, Stones and Walker last season getting to the Euros final in 2024.

Rodri was vocal about being overplayed then 2 weeks later he was out for the season after a couple of games. The other 3 in the final have suffered form loss, injuries and decline.

The outfield player who played the most last season has already broken down. The players will get 3 weeks off and only 1 week to train for next season, which is a disadvantage compared to 18 others, and even Chelsea have a chance of getting 2 weeks on us.
