16 | Rodri 2025/26

Deeply concerning that his injury appears to be with the same knee, going off Pep’s comments? Could be the end of him.

Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious as Christ do we need him.

Pep wasn't clear in his press conference. Probably deliberately vague.

I am astonished that this topic isn't full of questions because the single biggest feature of this game was City's inability to defend against counter-attacks.

As i've said numerous times, it's a 2 year injury. 18 months if he's lucky.
Yep. People won’t like the comparison but only have to look at van dijk.

Took him a good year to get back to his level after his acl injury.

Those posters who thought he would just slot straight back in and be the old Rodri where deluded

Concerning, this is why I've been surprised by how much we've seen of him in this cwc but picking up an injury is almost part of the recover process from an acl.

hes got the time now, recover from it well, no rushing and on to the next phase. He's still miles off being free of this.

Sane was another who was not same player after acl. He got back to a good level but his game was pace.
I don’t think Rodders game will be impacted as much.
Also a 90% Rodders for a season is better than anything else we have.

The point of getting him minutes in the CWC was to ease him back in slowly, allow him to shake off the rust and you’d guess to test his recovery. Ive seen on Twitter that it’s thought to be a thigh injury. Not uncommon when you’re moving differently to protect a healing ACL.

Disheartening to see him come off but felt a bit inevitable and as people above have said if it has to happen it’s better to happen now when they’ve got six weeks to work it out than in the proper season.

Hopefully just a normal over use injury after a long lay off. Thought he would feature as did in the first few for half hour or so. Surprised he started a game and played a bit more than i expected.
Good time for any flare up to happen now we’re out and he can rehab carefully.

Hopefully:

However, a longer period of absence is apparently not to be feared. The Spanish sports magazine Marca learned from a source close to the club that Rodri has not suffered an injury.

Here is the german article, where it is mentioned:

Normal fitness issues. He'll be back in August, this time capable to feature 80 minutes or so.

He played 10 minutes vs Bournemouth in May, then 65 minutes vs Juventus in June. He should be able to play whole games come September.

I wish Rodri all the best and hope he recovers soon...

But, FFS - I just hope that Rodri isn't

The BBC Gossip Column reporting today that Real Madrid are ready to offer £100m for Rodri.

Given his age, his injury and the players we have signed this year, would or should the Club consider such an offer. ?
