Problem with Shawshank is that if you know the twist it ruins the film, a bit like Shutter Island great film but a watch only once IMHO.

Problem I had with Shutter Island is that I had read the book before the film so I knew exactly what was going on

I think film writers haven’t got a clue , all films today are either remakes , horror films that don’t make any sense and action films which are so fucking unbelievable in the sense of how many they can kill in under 2 hours the latest being Ballerina.

I agree, can't remember the last film I watched that I really enjoyed,it's the same old shite
It's quite telling that my top 5 films was all made in the 90s

I'm not having that. What makes it such a masterpiece is it's an immensely rewatchable movie. Pick any bit and I'm watching the next 20 minutes. On the roof? The tunnel? The new fish? All of it.

Its big hook is its ending, once I know the plot of a film like Shawshank for me its a once only deal mate.
