PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Maybe Bloomberg did know about the difference between the two situations but felt much of their audience wouldn’t, and so asked it expecting Masters to make clear the obvious differences himself - which, as you say, he did not then do.

On the other hand, maybe I’m giving them far too much credit …
The US pundit asked a good question suggesting PSR would just deter investment in the PL and he could not answer.

Masters was never in a strong position. He was 4th choice, interviewed by the dippers and rags. Masters was always going to do what the American red cartel want.
The 3 people who turned the job down I would guess had a backbone and integrity
There’s a good story there but none of our media has the balls to ask them why they turned it down.

Some meat on those bones courtesy of AI.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters was interviewed by Manchester United and Liverpool, but not in the context of being hired by them. Instead, the interviews focused on the Premier League's handling of Manchester City's alleged financial rule breaches. These interviews were part of broader discussions about the league's handling of the situation.

In the ATP case, they seemed to frame blatant corruption as mere incompetence. So unfortunately, no matter how obvious this entire corrupt mess is, I suspect they’ll hold off on calling it out.

This is about as corrupt as it gets for a recruitment process. Yet still no one is asking questions about the PL leadership. There is something seriously wrong with our so-called independent media. And this sort of corruption seems rife. It’s not just football.

Wouldn’t be surprised it be released the Friday before our first game of the season
Don’t be so silly. There will be an attempt at destabilising the club then rather than drawing a line under it. The stories on the eve of the season, as with any other big game, will be about how Madrid are going to buy Rodri, Haaland is going to Barca, we are getting relegated, sheikh mansour is selling up and we are playing Kalvin Phillips at Centre back. Book mark this.

What's issue with being paid for 2 jobs it's not illegal and not against rules at time
And it was all declared and approved by UEFA. Totally legal to pay consultancy fees to retain someone’s services. The contract would have been all legal and designed to reduce Mancini’s tax burden. Nothing was hidden from HMRC. Actually none of any one’s business.

The worst thing of all is the total lack of challenge from the clubs to how badly their CEO has performed. Masters has wasted tens of millions of pounds of his members' money on fruitless legal actions, introduced rules which make it harder for clubs to attract external investment, presided over an organisation which leaks confidential information about its clubs (not just City. also Forest, Everton for starters). There has also been no scrutiny from the media into Masters' tenure even though he was appointed with no appropriate experience to be a CEO of anything. A person who presides over a multi billion pound empire with no significant experience of financial leadership, a person with no legal experience who has made numerous legal blunders, even ignoring his own legal advice. Yet still no one is asking questions.
Masters has done what the cartel wanted. Yes if they lose he will be the fall guy but he has done exactly what they wanted him to do .

If that’s true then he has engaged in naked corruption which has damaged commercial rivals of those who have favoured him. The CEO of the PL is supposed to represent the interests of all member clubs not a small clique. This would be against competition laws so perhaps what should happen now is a police investigation.

I have to admit to being more concerned the "Smaller" clubs acquiesced to the red cartel and voted with them time and time again.

Without their complicitness this could never have happened.

Didn't one of the characters involved take the job but resign within a month, citing as the reason for her (?) resignation the undue influence exerted on the PL by certain clubs?

I know you’re against the idea of a football regulator but when it’s in place it will limit if maybe not quite totally remove the threat of a ESL which was the big stick used to control the voting of the ‘smaller’ other 14 clubs.

The bigger the 115/130 legal bills get the more pissed off the smaller clubs are getting. They want this over and done with. Especially as the legal costs as a % impacts their PSR more significantly than the bigger clubs.

Self preservation. While the cartel worry about the big spenders the rest worry about no one else replacing them at the big table they have a spot at.
