Post Something Interesting

That’s a fascinating piece of social history. Being an FOC, I remember those early days of tv. The first thing I saw on tv was the coronation of QEII (1953) which I was forced to watch at a neighbour’s house and the second thing was the cup final City vs Brum in 1956, also at a neighbour’s. In between there were snatched fragments glimpsed through the window of Radio Rentals, such as Bailey and Watson defying the Aussies.
I used to watch at my friend’s house on the way back from school for several years… Popeye, the Lone Ranger, etc etc. Visits to my gran gave me a love of racing as she was addicted to the horses.
We finally acquired a tv in 1958 when I was 10. Now, all these years later I do not watch tv at all, apart from sport. I get my news on line.
Do the younger generation watch tv or is it all vids on the phone?

Today I am going to the MRI Eye hospital as I have a bleed on my eye.
They are going to inject something in my eye !!!!
I think they said I'd need about 8 injections !!!
I don't mind doing needles normally, giving blood etc is not a problem but in my eye !

I know someone who had it done and they said it was surprisingly easy, uncomfortable yes but surprisingly easy.

That aside I hope everything goes OK for you mate it can't be a very nice thing waiting for it to happen.

I have had over 30 injections in my eye over the last few years and go again next week. Nothing to worry about they are very good nurses that do it, just relax when they prepare you for the injection as they put a clamp on your eyelids to keep them open. Might feel strange after, just remember to use the lubricant eye drops they give you once the anesthetic wears off. The drops they put in your eye before your scan, if your having one, sting more than anything that follows. Just remember if it all goes wrong you have another eye anyway;-)

Stay positive mate, it won't be anywhere near as bad as you're thinking.

All the best!

Your post was very reassuring until you said they clamp my eye open !
Cheers fir the reply though.
The big worry is Mrs Mist looked it up, apparently I can't drink alcohol for 48 hours ! I was going to the pub at 4pm for a few pints with a mate. Bugger.
I'll check with the nurse, see what she says

Good luck with you injections but I would be a bit carefull about asking the nurse to go down the pub with you and your mate, you might get a black eye :-)

Wife's had them for 3 years.
She said it never hurts but when she comes out her eye is watering and its red for a while.
She thinks it's ironic as she's an opthalmic nurse.

@bluemanchester @mexico1970

Piece of piss, the nurses are as mad as a box of frogs at the MRI and totally put you at ease.
Further, you can drink alcohol, I asked but I was still there at 4pm i put the pub off until tomorrow.
I have 3 more, 1 month apart and then they'll assess it further.
I'm now at home on my first can of Guinness,

Great news mate I am glad you got through it, must have been worrying.

When the anesthetic starts to wear off, you will know, that is when to use the eye drops and use regularly tonight. A few cans, a good nights sleep and tomorrow morning you won't know you have had an injection. Told you Mrs Mist was making that no drinking bit up. Must know you too well;-)

Told you! Great to hear all went well. I hope that Guinness isn't the 'zero' stuff.
