Russian invasion of Ukraine

Stuff 13/08:

Russian advance currently contained. Reinforcements being absolutely pulverised as they approach - while Ukrainian forces root out Russian breakthrough squads.
Major advance in drone tech by Russia though applying similar tactics to the Ukrainians.
Massive criticism of the area commander for stand amd fight orders.

This summit (or TV reality show) is shaping up to be interesting. I can’t see Putin flying to Alaska unless he is knows in advance what Trump will offer and that he is happy to accept the offer.

Equally, given Trump is ‘erratic’ (to put it kindly) it could go off the rails and spin out of control in which case it becomes little more than a photo opportunity for Putin as the big powers ‘duke it out’ diplomatically. Same goes for Trump and his need to be seen as the big dog on the world stage - which the US already is anyway. In short an ego trip for both of them.

The bit that nags at me though is what if Putin is doing this not just to keep Trump onside and keep the US from backing Ukraine, but because Putin does genuinely need a way out of this mess. Using Trump and his TV show to display magnanimity to the world as a cover for backing out of this three and a half year shitshow.

I’m probably being overly optimistic on this last point.

The front line is pretty much static and has been for a year if not longer. Ukraine are hitting a lot of important infrastructure and logistics which is a sound tactic. Russia seems more disposed to attack civilian targets.
Hence ruSSia is a terrorist state and Putin should be arrested for crimes against humanity.

How does it work as far as America letting him go to Alaska when he has multiple arrest warrants on him from the ICC?

Genuinely asking, surely he should be getting arrested once he is out of Russian airspace?

Edit - just for anyone else who didn't know, the US doesn't recognise the ICC authority. Funnily enough, just like Russia, China etc.

Stuff 14/08:

Pokrovsk advance being extinguished.
Russians can't get in reinforcements without them being marmalised.

I think it is only recently that they pulled out from it
