you only have to look at the "its quiet " thread to see what a lot of city fans have turned into, it used to be a fun thread, now it is full of entitled people pissing and whinging , needy as fuck

Yep. And as I said earlier, majority have never stepped foot in the Etihad and all they do is moan and positive negative shit about City. Wish they would fuck off. I certainly don’t class them as City fans. Just glory hunting knob heads who think they know it all.

True but I think there has always been moaners . I'm thinking of the Kippax in the seventies when , before Allison decimated a perfectly good side , Tony Book had a team competing with the best . Lots of moaners back then including a bloke who invariably rolled up pissed and stood in front of me ( I'm a medium height woman ) shouting offence the whole game. Boy , he hated everyone and everything including the ball .

To some degree football has always served as a " kick the dog " safety valve ..

But these days being impatient/ impulsive / loud mouthed with no filter is monetised for every man and that long suffering dog on the socials and creeping into the mainstream media so every teenager and his dog , the world over, can feel they belong to something bigger or hope to gain " likes " by saying something that's rebellious just for effect . It's what teenagers do . These days they don't just have the Kippax where they can voice their opinions . Heck , when we have a USA president who has no filter whatsoever ....and he's no teenager, although sometimes I wonder ...
 
We’ve always had fans that have slagged the managers and players off (especially on a Saturday), I used to sit next to one who would constantly moan and slag the players off. It’s getting the same on here especially the transfer forum and match day thread (that is the worst of the worst on here). Yes we have so many cunts that follow us now and social media has made it 100 times worse. Maybe if all the money fucked off and we were found guilty of the 115, then we would cleanse our fanbase and the cunts would fuck off to another shiny new glory hunting toy.

It is an interesting idea, and there would be an upside in being able to debate a match at times with somebody who actually went to it, rather than read about it and then decided to slag everybody off. Unfortunately however I am pretty sure that what you suggest would breach GDPR rules, and place quite a data protection burden on BM. Perhaps a start would be to have a dedicated post match thread for people who self identify as members. Obviously people could lie, and contribute anyway, but I actually think that the real toxic idiots don’t want to interact on a limited basis anyway, they want to spew bile at the widest audience possible.

Sorry, but I'd consider that an appalling idea and if Ric ever took that on board then I would be gone.

If the idiots bother you that much either put them on ignore, don't visit the site or start your own forum where you can moderate who posts. Don't call it Truth Social though as that's been taken.

Agree about the fashion accessories, a certain band from burnage brought a lot of them lately, and yep everyone takes it too serious now that we are winning stuff.
As for the original post, there seems to be more and more arguments on here nowadays, if I wanted petty arguement I would talk to the Mrs
 
I first experienced online toxicity with City during the earlier days of the internet and reading the comments on the Manchester Evening News site. I genuinely couldn’t comprehend how miserable and negative certain commentators were pretty much all the time.
 
The current level of toxicity is bad, but this is merely a ripple compared to the tsunami of what will happen - if Pep declines (see wenger arsenal) or our next manager(s) fail to live up to previous (united).

Very true, I learned from an early age never to take anything too seriously and most of that was down to city being shite, this new breed of demanding win win win take everything seriously and get wound up far to easily, as has been said we have become what we used to laugh at

Most of our new fans don't give a fuck about the togetherness of our football club, and neither do our owners and the owners of other football clubs.

The itinerant nature of fans latching onto us just because we are successful is going to kill the soul of the club eventually.

With success, especially sustained success you gain glory hunting weirdos. And when the success slows down their only outlet in life is vent and they have no real passion or connection to the team.
Social media is infested with utter bellends from all over the world.

I’d be stunned if players gave a shit about things said online. However, they’re only young, their partners, wives only young, so sometimes get involved.
But if I could advise them, just enjoy your millions, enjoy your life, ignore the pathetic weirdos online.
