Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

No he didn’t, but he was hardly under the cosh for lots of the game. Need more than one game and against tougher opponents to make any rational calls
It's not often that we are under the cosh but we give soft goals away & it could have been a different narrative had the Wolves strike stayed on side

If we’re genuinely in for him then we’ll get him. If he’s given the choice of us or the rags then it’s a no brainer.

It’s just whether our interest is genuine.

Agree if it comes down to the choice and all things being equal he would obviously come here. But, that’s so obvious that the rags would know they couldn’t let things be equal if they wanted to go head to head with us for him. They’d have to offer higher wages and also they could throw an extra 10m on whatever fee we offer PSG. The longer the Ederson deal takes the more it brings the rags into the picture imo.

Really hope this happens, surprised it’s taking this long.

Galatasary taking the piss a bit, been in talks for weeks/months and launched two derisory bids? Come off it.

Donnarumma is not good enough for PSG but good enough for us? Doesn’t sound right. Is Lucas Chevalier a better keeper than Trafford? Not sure about that.
A treble winning GK isn’t better than someone that got dropped by an already relegated Burnley? Because that’s what you’re implying

Trafford did absolutely nothing wrong yesterday. He looked cool, calm and collected.I don't believe we need to be going for anyone else. Get a bloody right back.
You rate Trafford, and so do I, but if City sell Ederson, I would prefer to have a more experienced keeper for games vs Arsenal etc. I don't think there are many keepers <=22 years old in the Premier League and this is for a reason. It is an unnecessary risk.

I don’t think players always leave because they aren’t good enough. Donnarumma could easily stay there as number 1.

He was offered a new contract with less wages and they want Chevalier as he’s the next big French player.

Chevalier and Trafford comparison is an interesting one. I do really think Trafford is ready for a push, however I think it would be great for us to sign Donna.

The Ortega signing really changed things for us, Eddie being pushed and challenged day in day out and being able to field a good keeper in cups and when Eddie is unavailable really helped. I think Donna and Trafford is an incredible partnership.

We don't need him now.

The club decided to buy Trafford and we should stick with him.

The squad is being re-built and the new players are being integrated in the team, so i think it's the ideal situation for Trafford to get used to playing with this new looking team. Let him play behind our experienced back line and let him learn and grow this season.

The squad will change a lot again next summer, this year is part one of the transition, so the more experience our new signings and academy players get this season will only bode well for the future.

It's like with Foden (and don't misunderstand/misconstrue I really like Foden and think he is a good player). If an upgrade on him was presented to us, who wanted to join the team, there is a sizeable portion of blues who would automatically say no because Phil is "one of our own."
You could do that for every player though. Oscar Bobb was brilliant yesterday, but you know we could just spend 100m on a ready made world class player instead.

Why not develop an already brilliant young keeper into a world class one and save ourselves huge amounts of money as well. Actually give Trafford a chance, otherwise he’ll be gone next season.

Donnaruma for me hasn’t been world class over the last few years either. Great champions league last season, but very inconsistent prior to that.

Phil’s a world class player, who’s the main reason we won the last league btw he’s more than a good player

Thats weird logic as well.
It’s the same logic they applied not my own logic. It’s just strange in general. My logic is this is a win win situation. If Donna flops Trafford gets game time if he doesn’t we have two good GKs in our ranks. No drawbacks

No drawbacks? I’d argue basically preventing Trafford from having any chance of becoming our first choice keeper is a drawback. We aren’t spending huge money on a keeper and dropping him.

Give it one season and Trafford will be off and we’ll have the same issue next season. For me Trafford is the long term solution

*Sigh* I knew someone would be unhappy about this and think I am slighting Phil.

That wasn't at all the what it was about. FFS. I think the point I was trying to make was relatively clear. You just reinforced it.

No issues with you directly. You seem like a good person, by the way.

It's rare that a side conceded no chances unless the opposition is very poor.

But the reason why they got the offside chances was because our defenders moved away from them to play them offside, they would not have had ready chances if they'd been onside.

But how is it an issue if Donnarumma smashes it from the clubs POV? Personally you’d feel bad for Trafford but if we think about from the club’s POV it’s a win win situation. And if we replace Trafford it’s not a drawback at all. Trafford is only 4 years younger than Donnarumma too so it wouldn’t have repercussions long term
Player FC is rampant nowadays
