Your post reminded me of the Penlee disaster. I remember it happening (I was 14 at the time) and because we spent a lot of summer's in Cornwall it felt very real. I'm now going to watch/ listen to as much as I can about the Solomon Browne and her incredibly brave crew.

Similar age, I remember it too and found it quite emotional being at that site and reading the sad events. All volunteers, all normal albeit for their outstanding bravery.

Go early, park up in Ayr and walk down past the Tate, it's lovely but just too busy in the summer months. The seagulls do well mind...

Godrevy near hale , lovely coastal path opposite the lighthouse and seals on a nearby cove that you can look at from above .
Padstow , catch the ferry across the estuary into rock , follow the coast path to polzeath . Check the tide times as it’s a better walk with the tide out .

Heading to Saundersfoot nr Tenby tomorrow about 5 miles from Amroth .Booked a meal at Lan Y Mor.Just going for some chill out time walks /a few runs.Fingers crossed we get the weather.

Arrived in Stegna,Rhodes on Sunday afternoon.
Weather around 32degrees and a nice breeze in off the south coast.
Early vibe is that it’s a chilled out family oriented resort. No “John Bull” or “Paddy “ themed pubs anywhere - yay.
We have a Villa right on the edge of town with the beach just 30 seconds away.

You'll enjoy a bus trip to Amalfi. The oublic bus is far cheaper than an organised trip.

Take a boat trip to Naples, the train is always packed out and hot.

Wales in campervan, starting by the longer drive down to near Lampeter, then a bit farther south to Landsker few days there then up the coast to the llyn peninsula. Apologies for any spelling balls ups. Fingers crossed the van holds out and the weather isn’t total shite.

I'm over during the International break too, 7 nights at Mrs Moons sisters appt and then a couple of nights B & B at the hotel next door when her & her partner come over.

Came in at just under £900 including insurance and £150 return taxi.
