Jack Grealish - Everton on loan

Technically excellent player. A real loss and a shame we prefer a no trick pony constantly out of position and intent on losing possession in dangerous situations.
Could understand it more if he'd not done everything requested and at worse had the odd average game. Players that frequently have absolute shockers keep getting picked, but he was treated differently.
Can only have been an off field issue.

Explains why Pep split from his wife ?

See my other reply. He was a good player that season - but not our best player by a long chalk. Good player in a great team.

Really? Just good eh? Seriously bad memories or a lack of football knowledge what is the need of this nonsense to one of our players.

Anyhow your just good is bollocks

Jack Grealish broke the record for the most chances created by an English player in a single Champions League season, creating 35 chances during the 2022/23 campaign. In the 2020/21 Premier League season, Grealish also created 38 chances from open play, which was the most in any of Europe's five major leagues at the time.

He isn't on here you're right but he's been going over 50 years. Nothing as funny as folk as they say.
I was sat next a City fan for the QPR game who was constantly on Aguero’s back. It was obvious he just hated him. Prior to that I thought all City fans loved Sergio but when some people get things in their head, however daft, they are sometimes impossible to shift.

He’d gone by the time Sergio scored btw!

Full pile on Pep in many articles and comments this morning. They claim he is now free to enjoy his football without the straightjacket of Peps instructions.

They conveniently ignore the fact he no longer has a compressed two banks or 10 opposition players in the last 20 yards of the pitch! Teams do not defend like that against Everton or in fact Villa when he was there!

It's mad isn't it. The lad I'm referring to I don't see as often as I used to because he's moved away, not far but away. So when saw him last time before Christmas I couldn't believe the crap he was coming out with about Pep. By the way every City fan should love Pep and Sergio surely. That fan didn't deserve to see that goal.

Don’t get so worked up. Ok. Jack was the best player in Europe - if you like.

What happened to Jack after 2023 when many of our team were coming to the end of their best years & we needed him to become their replacement?

I’ve nothing against Jack, in fact he’s probably the nicest guy in football - but I’m just saying it’s easier to look great in Everton’s team than in ours.

Last year we needed control in games and pep didn't play jack who gives you control. He played against forrest at home in a central position and had a great game. Then was left out of the team for ages. Whilst his stats weren't as good as they could be for us it's no coincidence we won the treble with him as a regular in the team and instead of building on that success the next season we bought doku who walked straight into the team ahead of Jack. I think pep tinkered too much here and ended up mismanaging a superb talent which we saw before at Villa, we saw in our treble season and we will see now he's at Everton. Its genuinely sad as fans love the guy and he really connects with supporters in a similar way to Zaba and Vinny. As a fanbase we need players like Jack.
Yeah, blame Pep

Jack never stopped being a good player or capable of what he's showing. He just stopped getting the chance to play in open games where the opposition aren't afraid to come out and take you on. It's very different playing against ten defenders week in week out.

This should be a reminder to everyone that when players leave they may well do 'better', but it's not really because of anything other than the opposition allowing more space. It's not Pep telling them to be negative, it's not lack of effort. It's lack of space.

Additionally, the same can be an issue when trying to sign players - nobody else faces opposition like this game in game out, so it's hard to know which players can adapt.
Well said.
I don’t think any City fan disliked Jack - he’s the nicest guy in football. But some can see that teams play differently against us because we were the best team for many years & they feared us. Accordingly, players could not expect the freedom Jack will get at Everton.
Blaming Pep is a joke.

It’s not.

It’s 100x easier to look good in our team, a team full of top level players.

He’s being allowed to roam about and do what he’s best at rather than being stood that close to the sideline he’s stood in the bogs at Mary D’s and being told to pass backwards.

Was involved in all 3 goals yesterday. He’s class, always has been. You just have to let him be himself.

Yep. Pep’s fault of course

I'm not getting worked up in the slightest

You said he was just good in a great team, I showed you why you were wrong, you could have just admitted you were wrong but you went sarcastic instead. Not much point talking to someone like that, goes nowhere.

I'm content knowing I was right and knowing you know it as well, even though you cannot bring yourself to admit it.

It's a lot of work though so we can leave it there.

Fingers crossed for a good win today.

He’s playing in a completely different system in a team that others don’t set up to defend deep and counter.

He’s got space ahead of him. He’s doing great. Good for him. Horses for courses.

I wasn’t being sarcastic- in the same way you weren’t being arrogant?

I hadn’t intended to make him sound just “good”. It was a great season & all players contributed

Anyway - as you say, fingers crossed for a good win today

Was he one of the Bosnian mafia that we used to have on here?

I never indicated I wasn't being arrogant, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to read your intentions, you used the word good in a great team and you actually differentiated it from great.
I may be a font of knowledge but mind reading is beyond me :-)

I've gone 2 1 city on my super 6
