Welcome Donnarumma!

That is fine, but even at 71.9% it is hardly better than Ederson and people think he was poor at traditional keeping

If context matters, why just the CL stats on 4 cherry-picked games?

It wasn't really about Trafford, more to do with the stat that the best keeper in the world had a worse shot-to-goal ratio than the one leaving, when people were claiming that he would be a vast improvement in that department.

Because Liverpool and Arsenal are the strongest teams in England, they are our main rivals. Donnarumma is the best vs the best.

AI calculated his saves to shots ratio in the KO CL games last season (all of them): 80,65%! Good luck finding someone better in the KO stages.

Rodri my friend, the best player ive seen, consistently in the last two decades, to take a ball under pressure, and normally at pace, and swat opposing players off like flies; there’s a reason the press was rejected by most against us, it wasn’t Eddie, it was invariably the big man, seen through the adaptations of teams when he wasn’t in there….

He can take a missile of a ball, shield and control tempo, which is when we attack like the Valkyries…

Couldn't agree more.

James Trafford has been given the usual "young and English" treatment where he's being treated as a superstar waiting to happen and the successor to Ederson as our sweeper keeper.

Except his passing is average and his decision making is suspect at best. He sent Stones into a corner under needless pressure more than once against Brighton, looked shaky under the press against Palermo and had a poor game against Spurs punctuated by a shocker of a mistake.

Donnarumma is a 10 year top flight veteran at the age of 26. And a UCL/Euro champion.

Ederson was one of our playmakers. Not one goalkeeper in world football, including Trafford and Donnarumma, would have been signed with that expectation. Playing from the defence doesn't rest on the goalkeeper being a central player of the ball. It just rests on him not hoofing it purely for territory the way keepers did in 1995.
Tremendous post!

1000%...

The reality in football is probably 95% of goals will go past any keeper, that's why I don't worry too much about stats and goals conceded , a lot of this is down to the team..

It's that extra few percent where either keepers are making howlers or they're making saves not just anybody can. The latter is this guy.
