Oasis reunion

Seriously thinking about going to Buenos Aires to see Oasis in November.

I get my annual bonus in November.

I’m 57.

Life is too short.

You can’t take it with you.

A once in a lifetime trip.

Oasis, the iconic River Plate stadium, Buenos Aires, fuck it, I’m going!
Hi mate, a group of 4 of us are flying out for it (going Rio after BA) and we’re going to the Sunday show. We’re gonna try and get the Boca Juniors game in too. If you wanna join in or meet up for it, let us know. Be good to have local mancs for an event like this

I think they should call it a day. They will probably do the Etihad and Knebworth next summer.
I get the impression there will be new music, though.
I’d love them to do a new tour with an alternative setlist, switching out half of the current setlist for the likes of Columbia, Lyla, Hindu Times, Go Let It Out, Shock Of The Lightning, Importance of Being Idle, Gas Panic, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, etc.

And of course at least 5 nights Etihad in that.

Can’t picture what new music would be like and if it might just be better leaving the existing catalogue alone - but we all know recording + releasing new records is Noel’s passion (and his last album saw him move back to a more classic Oasis sound) so who knows.

I'm off to Wembley on Sat 27th for the gig, but not paying £160pp for the train, so will end up driving. Best place to park for around 30 hours where we can hop on a tube? Staying over in central London so will need to drop bags off before going to the stadium?

Can get cheaper trains but they take 4h+ each way and require 2 changes, so don't fancy that.

Just to be clear, if anyone is in Buenos Aires for this, let me know. Would be quality having a few other blues around for the gig

Most of those could easily slide in to the current set in place of a few. Apart of me hopes they quit while they are a head, I thought the Roses nnewer stuff was awful but if they have decent tunes why not, you could make a great album from noels solo stuff with a few of liams self written ones thrown in. But as far as the gigs go nothing will beat the classics

Where are you driving from?

Rather they did multiple nights at the Etihad than Knebworth but I suppose it grabs more headlines. The sound carries much better in stadiums than open places like Heaton Park and Knebworth.

£114pp return on Sunday on trainline. Takes 2.5 hours.

What route are you taking and how much did you pay for your flights?

So we’re staying in Rio too as we thought we may as well do that too.

I’ve paid £975 with British Airways which is from Manchester to Heathrow to Buenos Aires. 4 nights there and then fly to Rio with British Airways for 3 nights and then fly from Rio to Heathrow and Heathrow to Manchester all with British airways again. Cheaper to do those flights from Manchester than Heathrow which makes zero sense

I’m trying to work out a route or plan that includes Oasis in either Sao Paolo or Buenes Aires; and Boca v River Plate. Flights were around £650 return from London to Sao Paolo a few weeks ago when I looked but those prices seem to have shot up.

I might have to forget about Boca v River and just go to less glamorous games of either team.

I can recommend a book by Simon Inglis called Sightlines a Stadium Odyssey. He talks about infamous stadiums around the world. But also between chapters talks about a trip to Buenos Aires where he tries to visit every ground in the city and explains the story of each club and how they fit into the ecosystem of the city. Since reading the book it’s always been on the bucket list to visit.
