The Rise of the Far Right

so they throw their lot in with them if only as a big fuck you.

If you’re prepared to throw your lot in with violent racist thugs like Tommy Robinson then it’s because you agree with him to some level.

If you care about things like the fundamental equality of all races then it doesn’t matter how pissed off you are, you don’t join in with the racists just to upset the establishment.

Im sure you’ll keep pretending it’s not racism to support a raving, boastful racist as he makes racist speeches though.

Look, I doubt anyone is offended by the flags. The flags are great, as are most flags. I mean, why the fuck would I be offended by a St.George’s flag when I’ve often displayed one during international football tournaments? I’ll also add that I’m even more invested in the patriotism around the England cricket team when they’re playing a test match.
No, what people are offended by are some of the knuckle-dragging cunts who are behind this sudden display of so-called patriotism and are hijacking the flags for their own nefarious ends, just like the National Front did in the 70s and 80s. And if you don’t think there are any wrong ‘uns involved in this then I suggest you read the post by @Manchester33 on page 2 of this thread.

My view is we fucked up by allowing the NF and BNP cunts to hijack the flag in the first place, there are people who wouldn't dream of flying a flag or resort to any form of 'patriotism' even during a world cup or ashes. These people lost.
If everyone put up a St George's flag then it wouldn't mean anything if fucknuts also put them up. But that won't happen so I have no idea what the answer is apart from do what we always do and ignore it and hope it goes away.

Britain is one of the oldest still functioning parliamentary democracies on the planet, built on strong Christian foundations.

We are the home of Magna Carta, the birthplace of the system of common law that is the real source of concepts such as individual liberty, free speech, the right to a fair trial, etc.

Our language is the most widely spoken on the planet, the language of the internet and global commerce.

We are the home of the industrial revolution, the first steam engine, leading to key advances like steam trains, steam boats and factory production.

The home of cultural giants like Shakespeare, Dickens, Tolkien, Orwell, etc. Some of the most influential figures in world literature to this day.

The home of scientists who made major contributions to the progress of humanity such as Newton, Darwin, Faraday, Turin, etc. Again, hugely influential on the global stage.

Just a tiny fraction of the legendary figures produced by this tiny island off the coast of Europe, I could go on and on but I don't have the time or energy, you could write a book about the contribution Britain has made to the progress of the human race and I'm sure many have.

Our contribution to the arts, music, the wider culture, continues to this day.

We're standing on the shoulders of giants, we have a lot to be proud of, we have a distinctive culture that produced these hugely significant ancestors, and this is worth celebrating and preserving.

Talk about fish and chips and curry is a very low grade level of analysis of what it means to be British and a little bit silly.

The liberal establishment is pushing the narrative that the expression of pride in your nation is in some way far right, but the vast majority of the country isn't buying it.

The great irony of this assessment is that the people who dedicate their lives to studying all of the above - historians, lawyers, authors, scientists, artists - they aren't the ones marching in London. These are the academics and professionals in our universities currently getting unfairly lambasted as "woke" or "leftists" at every possible opportunity by far right protestors.

If the above really is what we think constitutes our culture (and I'm not making any claims otherwise), then as far as I can see, the attack on it seems to clearly be coming from inside the house. I haven't exactly seen any of the protestors arguing for more Shakespeare in schools or a better appreciation of Newtonian classical mechanics.

You think he was on the protest? :-) Also I don't think he's ever said there is no racism or that he supports a boastful racist.
It seems you prefer the simplistic answer and he doesn't and that's fine until you accuse people of being something without anything to back it up.

I'm not sure one extra poster shouting knuckle dragging racists is gonna solve much on a football forum. Your view of throwing your lot in is very fucking odd tbh.
But if you think him joining in(which he hasnt) will change anything knock yourself out.

* Please note

I wasn't in London yesterday
I don't support the shitbag Tommy
I don't vote for any right wing psrties and never will

Just in case you now think I'm' joining in' :-)

He officially organised the march FFS. He was the headline speaker. The crowd were chanting his name.

Why do we have to deal with this much stupidity? Tommy Robinson can organise and promote a march, speak ant the march alongside far right politicians from across the world, and now we are asked to pretend he had nothing to do with it by people who are too ashamed of supporting an explocitly racist protest just so you can save face and pretend you’re not on the same side.

Just Grow a pair and at least admit you’re throwing in with racist scumbags. I’m not going to pretend a Tommy Robinson led and organised march has nothing to do with Tommy Robinson.

The game is about to start

Show me where the poster(whose posting history i know btw) has said Tommy fucknut wasn't involved and the posts where he indicates he is on their side.

From what I've read he has just stated not all the protesters and flag wavers are the stereotypical knuckle dragging racist types. He sees something different in these protests over past ones. You can disagree but don't presume to know his reasoning behind it.

I'm basing my opinion on reading his posts on and off for a decade or so, I have no idea what you are basing your opinion of him on but it isn't reading his posts properly.

Game on

Come on the blues.

Vast majority of those marching behind the racist thug wouldn’t have a clue about our British history , they might be able to name Churchill , that’s about it.

Yeah, it’s a football forum.

Your response hasn’t solved anything either, has it?

Another Glib, Flippant post from Hilts, Almost like there's a few of them doing it on the political forum

Stop calling the abhorrent, abhorrent or you'll make them more abhorrent, stunning logic isn't it?

I will indulge this.

Flippant is because folk are foaming at the mouth calling fumble some sort of racist which is so fucking laughably wide of the mark it’s untrue.

They’re guilty of exactly what he is telling them they’re guilty of but they won’t see it or face it.

Glib enough for you?

It makes David Lammy English so I guess so.

According to Lammy and Abbott as well, the British Empire makes all folk from the Commonwealth a part of our extended family, and there's merit in the argument, why should our history and lineage stop in Lancashire and Cornwall? Why not Jamaica and Lagos? New Delhi and Melbourne? Lots of folk there have ancestors who fought for the British Empire, my dad was stationed alongside the West African fighting force in the 2nd World War.

We have to step back and see things differently if we're going to break down us and them, otherwise we let GB News, Talk TV and right wing influencers continue to peddle the narrative that it's the natives against the invaders.
Are you going to tell Unite the Kingdom and Flagshaggers Inc that that includes Indians and Pakistanis? These concerned citizens need to be told too.

It's the intelligent racists we have to worry about. And the ones, intelligent or not, bankrolling this.

A lot of them may be "concerned citizens" but it's still right to ask them why they want to march with overt racists on a march organised by a convicted racist.

Do you actually understand his ethno nationalism / indigenous stuff? I'm afraid I see it as "when I use a word it means what I want it to mean".

You're accusing me?

I think you understand. You just refuse to accept it so it’s easier to just attack him with the usual name calling.

To be fair, most wouldn’t accept it. Even Robinson didn’t when he was in the EDL.

I get that he has a different interpretation of those terms than most though.

You see what you want to see. Ethno nationalism was at the core of two world wars, it was at the core of most wars in the 20th Century, why do you think the Ukrainians are fighting? Or the Palestinians and the Israelis? What's self determination if not ethno nationalism? It runs deep whether we like it or not, it cannot be eradicated because it's inconvenient so it needs to be enlarged and that's what I was saying when I posted this....

I've covered this already.

I don't want a country where we slice and dice based on race, Afro-Caribbean Brits, Asian Brits and the like, I just want Brits. Sounds to me that the Raja family have as good a claim as many to British ethnicity. I hear a number of folk on that march talking about "our country" and "our people", whether we like those folk or not we shut them up by ensuring the Raja family are "our country" and "our people", coz if we don't we're screwed.

It makes David Lammy English so I guess so.

If you think you're being progressive coz you don't believe there's an indigenous population in this country, that's not progressive it's stupidity, it's blinding dogma akin to screaming that apples don't fall off trees they drift into space and condemning those that state the bleeding obvious and calling them racists and bigots might make you feel good but it get's us precisely nowhere.
