Russian invasion of Ukraine

Stuff 15/09:

Interesting to note that Ukrainian AI in the latest Vyriy-10 quadcopter drones is rendering ECM much less effective with terminal guidance in case of signal loss.
A mini cruise missile for $489!

I’m far from a Trump supporter, but IMO he has a point (about NATO countries buying from Russia).
Europe: "Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we have seized assets and money from Russian Oligarchs!"

Ukraine: "That's great! So, when can we expect you to use that money to help fund our military defence?"

Today marks two years since the breakthrough of the Russian naval blockade of the Black Sea.

On September 16, 2023, the merchant vessel AROYAT entered Ukrainian territorial waters, soon followed by RESILIENT AFRICA — without any permissions from the Russian side.

OSINT researcher Exit266 notes that over two years he and other researchers tracked 5,400 ships passing through the "Ukrainian corridor" for trading grain and other goods.

In this regard, the researchers are ending their project monitoring trade in the Black Sea.

According to Exit266, trade continues with minimal impact from Russian shelling; fluctuations depend more on weather and seasonal spikes in economic activity.

The researcher concludes that Ukraine has stood firm — and the breakthrough of the naval blockade for trade became one of the main factors that allowed Ukrainians to continue the fight.

Its internationally illegal to do anything with the seized money. but they can and have (or said they would) been sending the interest made on that money? or is that one of those promised things that didn't actually happen yet.

This could be an interesting solution mind you. Convert the frozen assets into EU Bonds and that free's up the cash to be sent. Basically an IOU from the EU to the holder of the frozen assets. and also an extra incentive not to attack the EU as those IOU's would be worthless if the EU fell ( not suggesting it would )

An illegal invasion where the aggressor has had it's funds seized, and your concern is the legality of the funds?

A good read as always it's just an opinion.

Hope he’s right. Certainly the way he speaks about the current state of the conflict is correct. All I’ve heard this year is about Russian advances, but I’m struggling to see what they’ve taken of note. And there’s far more to this war than mere territory. Not saying Ukraine are winning, or can necessarily win, as in get everything back. Can’t see that happening, sadly.

Think Europe would be wary about too much instability in Russia. Think they just want Putin back in his box.

There’s no doubt Putin has massively fucked up. So maybe he isn’t that clever. It’s the biggest call he’s ever made and he’s fucked it. And he didn’t even need to make it. It wasn’t like he was actually cornered.

So no, not that smart.

❗️Putin ally Dmitry Kozak is resigning, according to RBC. He allegedly opposed the war in Ukraine.

It is reported that Kozak will go into business. He has been an ally of Putin's since the latter's time in the St. Petersburg mayor's office.

The New York Times previously reported that Kozak "disappointed" Putin by not openly (though not publicly) supporting the war in Ukraine.

Kozak dissuaded Putin from starting the war and proposed starting negotiations with Kyiv in 2025, as well as implementing reforms in Russia.

According to the NYT, Kozak was the only high-ranking member of Putin's inner circle who opposed the war.
