MLB 2025

Phillies swept and the other ones losing to Grimsby, what a day.

Love it, the boo birds out at Citi Field on Thursday But was it for Soto hitting the homer or for ruining the Guardians shut out ffs.
How to beat the Mets have a Dave Wright day, that worked not, get the Straw to turn up to see Pete beat he's record ffs
The Mets are typical City guess thats why I love them FFS ;-)
Speaking as a Mets fan I confirm they are the best likeness to City of an any American sports team.

They have the Yankees across town - a team people across the US either support to jump on the glory bandwagon, or completely hate.

For years the Mets were a shambles - on the 50th anniversary listing actual players from their 1969 World Series Champion team as deceased when they were still alive an example - daft things happened regularly to them and then as if by magic, a new owner with bottomless pockets arrived 4 years ago and we've been on the up since.

Throw in Juan Soto who basically did a Carlos Tevez last winter from the Yankees to the Mets and you've got the set.

I first visited NYC in the late 80s and as it was Yankees this Yankees that, I consciously decided to support the "other" baseball team in town and my Mets fandom was born. It's never dull.

Young Jonah Tong makes his debut on the mound tonight, hope springs eternal in the play-off battle in the National League. LFGM

Just done the highlights reel and Tong gets his debut win wish we could have bottled a few of those homes for when we need them :-)

Some of our Infield Defense was Micky Mouse again and needs tidying up. Key is to win these
last 2 of this Marlins series as the next 10 on the road are really tough.

Tigers have the second best record in baseball and I still shit myself every night and have no idea what or how our potential playoff rotation will be and perform

Give me McGonigle

@willipp how are we feeling?

Because I think the inevitable is sadly fast approaching
All going tits up isnt it. To be honest, they haven't been above .500 for the last 2/3 months now and if it wasn't for their great start they'd have no chance.

What do you put it down to? Pitching injuries? Batting just not consistent enough?

The pitching has been atrocious in my opinion, even Skubal has been hit or miss the past while and tonight after the injury it's fucking huge he's a hit this game or we're fucked. Closing out innings, especially with Flaherty, after two outs has cost is over the past few months.

The off days for the starters, the pitching chaos, has been a disaster this season, best to always chalk it up as a loss each week.

Hitting wise, there's been no 'clutch' moments that the first half of the season was full off.

Add it altogether, giving up two out hits/runs and not scoring ourselves in those big moments... Means we're on the cusp of an all-timer bottle job sadly

As a Guardians season-ticket holder, I’m of course glad to see all this, but I do think the Tigers will hold on to the division by a couple of games. I was in Detroit earlier in the season and went along to a game against the Red Sox, where the Tigers looked like a team of destiny. The fall has been hard, but I think they’ve just about got enough in the tank though. The post-season can be unpredictable, but i can see them getting obliterated there. Same for Cleveland, if they managed to sneak in via the WC.

The Fightin's seem to have a lock on the #2 seed in the NL and the 2nd best overall record in MLB. The only left to cheer for in the regular season is that the Mets will Mets it up and be spectators in October.

For me it's been a pretty good year, I got to 14 games. I've seen 7 at home and 7 on the road (3 in SF, 2 at Wrigley and 2 in DC). I've seen:
  • Schwarber hit one into McCovey Cove
  • Schwarber's 50th against the Mutts
  • Mick Abel outduel Skenes in a 1-0 win
  • Two Duran entrances at night games at CBP
  • 13 run explosion at Oracle Park in SF
  • A 9-3 beatdown of the Mutts
The biggest downer is that we were at what might have been Zack Wheeler's last ever appearance in MLB. Hopefully he recovers from his surgery but I'm afraid his future health might not let him risk coming back.

Both teams will/would get bounced to be fair.

We've hit a brick wall and your evil, devil voodoo magic can't last

“Small ball terrorists”.

And they strike again! Definitely squeaky bum time for the kitties, but like I said, I do think you’ll fall over the line in first place.
Absolutely zero chance in my opinion. The team is shot of any and all confidence, playing like they don't give a fuck and/or just feeling the pressure of a division win after so long.

After Skubal went out it was only going one way. The decision to run on contact with runners and 2nd and 3rd, nobody out, killed us early on. Stupid decisions whereas you did all the small things well, annoyingly!

OK. I might be starting to believe you.
It's frightening but it's inevitable

Blowing that Tork homer, that's the season in a nutshell.

Even if by some miracle we won the division, we'd get absolutely crushed by anyone. As far as I'm concerned the division is gone sadly.

Well they were the 3 Stooges and the Mets fielders 9 Stooges. Sorry boys that was piss poor!
Having to hope triple A pitchers ( who in fact are doing ok ) will carry us to post season while batters are dancing about and not affecting the score ffs

@roman totale please do me the favour of not tagging me during and after the beat down these next three days, they've broken me enough already

It's a joke. This is a team with two first-ballot HOFers in Lindor and Soto, plus Alonso, Diaz and many other good players and a huge payroll. Yet they're tied with the fucking Reds for the last WC berth. Not to mention 12 games behind the Philly trash who are a mediocre team at best.

I don't really blame Mendoza but Stearns gambled with the staff this year and it's blown up in his face.
