Russian invasion of Ukraine

Absolute insanity.
Like Trump, it will be the 2nd time he's been voted in.

He is a populist that is more about self-interest than anything else but the problem this time is that he's likely going to need a coalition partner and the only 2 viable ones would appear to be extreme left or extreme right, both of which are more pro Russia than he himself is.

It's a pretty dire situation.

This gives a reasonable overview https://www.expats.cz/czech-news/ar...-s-eastern-drift-as-pavel-urges-voter-turnout

We have elections here on Friday and Saturday. Sadly it looks like we'll most likely end up with a guy a bit similar to Orban and Ukraine will be losing a close ally.

I would be critical, but as I vote in a country that voted Brexit and elected Johnson, all I can say is I feel your pain and hope for the best.

This fuel crisis is encouraging isn’t it? How long before it starts affecting the army? With no moveable transport the only option is to retreat before the fuel runs out. Could it be over by Christmas with Ukraine marching into Mariupol and declaring victory?

The next phase when Ukraine gets the all clear will be bringing down russias power grid in the middle of Winter.

If the figures in this are close then the average russian will really be feeling the benefits of the 3 day operation.

So apparently Putin is currently doing a speech about a red line if the U.S. or NATO countries strike Russia with even a conventional weapon/missile they will retaliate with nuclear Armageddon or words to that effect.

My cousin just phoned me so not seen the speech myself.

It's not the first time Putin's threatened to go nuclear though, is it?

That’s true but if what he’s said now is true, it feels like it’s more likely to kick off but I could be wrong.
As Putin gets increasingly desperate then he's going to try whatever he can to distract.

It's only going to get worse for them. The fuel crisis will lead to food shortages and more inflation. Desperate people will do desperate things. Something will happen in Russia soon.

Just read the comments from the interview. Rough translation “whaa whaa we are the victims whaa whaa retaliation due to Europe rearming whaa whaa nonsense we will attack NATO whaa whaaa whaaaaaa”
