4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Thought he was mint today. Loads more patient and controlled the game well in the first half. Not so much second half but hoping that consistency will come with time.

Ive said repeatedly about Reijnders that he doesnt have defensive discipline at present at all and playing him centrally at present is leaving us light...he brings a lot offensively and you can see the same traits in him that Gundo had but he needs to add that defensive aspect to his game...picking up the second (loose) ball for instance....

Foden works his socks off at the very least
With Rodri not being up to speed, the midfield balance is a bit off defensively. We are a bit lightweight in there at the moment to say the least.

He's had a much better start that Wirtz and ultimately he's still finding his feet in a new country, league and team. I think he's doing alright. Mint in flashes, decent in longer periods, the odd stinker. I think him and Foden will find a balance between themselves sooner rather than later. I'm not worried at all about him.

Our new players are not being introduced alongside the “100 pts”or treble winners team mates.

It’s a new team. Him and others will need time. I don’t think him or Gonzalez are doing too bad personally.
They're not being introduced alongside them, and more importantly they're being compared to some of the best players to ever play in England. Is he peak Gundo, possibly not, but who is?

Question asked during a Dutch quiz-show: Where does Tijiani Reijnders play after being transferred from AC Miland?
Fuck me !!

Is that you Pep?

Should probably be lower in the pecking order than the likes of Bernardo, Nico and Kovacic for now.

A little concerned for him now after a couple months. Seems redundant as a 10 with Foden and Cherki in the team, doesn't bring the control or work rate Bernardo does and Kovacic and Gonzalez are more robust midfielders than him. Good technical ability and energy, but it's hard to see what he brings that's enough to overtake those around him in the midfield.

Decent squad player?

Decent squad player?
I'd say more than decent, but it's just well short of the expectation I had for him. I thought he'd be a Gundo/Bernardo type midfielder but he needs more time to adapt to the pace of the league and lack of space we get.
