North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I know this may sound as if I am poking my nose in where it probably isn’t wanted but I’m cheeky enough to do it!
Maybe we give the club the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes?
I am not a conspiracy theorist thinking all the club want is money, money, money. They do too much good for the community and for the fans for me to think that.
They are a business yes, a business that needs to make money to keep going. They know that one off tourists are not going to continually bring in money. The description one off tells us that. We as SC holders bring in money every week. Ok we don’t buy a new kit or a half and half scarf or a souvenir, but we bring in money from food, ticket prices, car parks etc.

I’m sorry to butt in but this will be my last season as a SC holder because of my health. Please, please stop arguing among yourselves and take joy and pride in enjoying the matches with MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-) :-)

p.s. when they removed some seats for the advertising hoardings or something I was asked to move. As it turned out in the end they left our bit alone eventually because of the cameras and media in front of us. But I’d psyched myself up to move so I have a bit of an understanding as to how those being asked to move feel. I’m sorry if I offend anyone, it is not my intention. I’m just trying to see another perspective. :-) :-) :-)
Great post Sheila. Sorry to hear it’s your last season as a season as a season card holder. Hope the lads bring us more success this season.

Have you not answered your own question there? If an ST doesn't turn up for whatever reason and doesn't list it then the seat will remain empty, if an FG doesn't want to go then the seat gets sold. Perhaps the club see it as an attempt at sorting the atmosphere "problem".
Agreed.
I got the previous criticisms of flexi gold when they were effectively more expensive memberships.
Now that an attendee who goes to all the matches pays the same as a ST holder and can register on all the cup schemes, I am genuinely puzzled what the fuss is about.

Any chance this tread can get back on thread about North Stand Development Appreciate that yesterday's announcement was relevant to the North Stand but there is a thread all about tickets Please!

Maybe this one or someone start a new one

So is the general consensus that despite the club offering a minimum of 3000 standing seats to support the creation of a more atmospheric stand those who have been asking for it are actually going to say thanks but no thanks and stay in their silent masses in the south stand because some seats in the stand will be a bit more expensive and have access to a nicer area?, fucking mard arses , don't blame the club when we are sat in silence for most games going forward.

That's not what this thread is about, it about discussing the new north stand it isn't restricted to nerds wanting to see the latest bit of steel installed via drone footage.

Its about the construction, as in the title, there are plenty of tickets and seat threads Its also gone off track about seats, flex gold, people moving etc nothing to do with construction
Maybe I go on one of those and talk about the construction of the stand

Just a reminder that when a prominent poster urged Blues, who were being asked to move seats 6 or 7 years ago, to ditch their season cards, a few of us called for common sense to prevail. The poster kept his season card but the brainwashed didn’t and missed the best years in our history.

I can understand Blues wanting to stay in the South Stand or other parts of the ground. There’s every chance that the families who will be able to access tickets in the expanded North Stand will sing loud and proud anyway.

We’ve known the vast majority of the North Stand layout since last year. I see the GA+ seats as an own goal but the Club has shown bravery in expanding the ground in the face of a storm of
litigation. Give it time and most fans will enjoy playing in front of 60k crowds.

Sorry to hear it’s your last year as a SC/ST holder EB, how many years has it been?
On the SC/ST front I’m not sure but as a fan attending matches on and off almost 70 years. I couldn’t afford a SC in the beginning or when I was raising 4 kids alone but attended when I had the money/time and the radio/TV was always on on match days.
I’ll miss it but I’ve been ‘training’ for the end since I had to stop the away games. I
Fill up every time I think of it but hey ho that’s life as you get older. :-)

Must've missed this at the time. Who was the poster Tim? I've got an idea - just don't remember him saying that

That seems to be the position many are taking.

They're letting 800 (TBC) GA+ seats within a stand that will add another 6,000+ to the existing North Stand Level 1 prevent them from getting behind the positives.

Let's step back and imagine we're moving into the stadium for the first time. The South Stand has the away fans - great for some banter. But it's split over three levels and very hard to generate a coordinated atmosphere.

The North Stand has some GA+ seating within it, and not in ideal locations. But it's one huge tier providing an opportunity for 6,000+ blues to go and make a racket under the roof. The design from a noise perspective is by far the best - with the side panels and slope. It's going to make a racket. Initially 3,000 of those blues will have safe standing, with the ability to expand that provision.

One thing that maybe got missed in the club statement amongst it all

'We also look forward to sharing further exciting updates about our new museum, fan zone, hotel, and food and beverage spaces, all of which are due to open in late 2026'.

Pretty sure the original programme was sometime in june 26 for the final bit which is the City Square. So maybe running a bit behind, or maybe leaving room to manage expectations. Hopefully it is already for the 26/27 season.
I did tell you this a few months back...

Should all be done for the start of season, assuming we ask for an away game to start.

I don’t want to derail the thread beyond saying he was a Mod. That said, he’s a lifelong Blue with a wonderful family. City through and through. I guess it was up to the other Blues who chose to stop going. We all have choices.

Anyway, being a Blue is more than attending the games. FWIW, I visited Maine Road in midweek and then carried onto see the paintings / murals of Alex Williams and Khiara Keating and the new Billy Meredith one.

Why would the NS be any less silent?

Unless it is cheaper most won't move.

Sorry to hear you will not be attending after this season Sheila. Me and my boys sit in the family stand and they know who you are due to me telling them about you and John Stones, and whenever John scores or even warms up the 3 of us shout towards the Colin Bell stand “that’s for you Eccles”. I get puzzled looks from those around us but tbf that’s a regular event. You will be hugely missed at the Etihad but hope you continue to post in here?

Edit - has anyone told John boy yet?

Seems to me that individuals want changes that suit individuals.
The club have made decisions that benefit the future of Manchester City football Club.
An immense new development to benefit the match going experience of thousands of fans, old and new.
Many of us have left Manchester to make a better life elsewhere but feel the lure of returning to watch our beloved blues.
We make a day of it spending thousands a year, tickets , hotels, food and drink.

No longer can the only people who have a stake in City be the ones who moan about the bus or tram back to Hale.

Of course any new development must cater for a mix of experiences, they are not mutually exclusive.
A ground suitable for the Euros, CL finals, and the best team in the land and all the World.
As usual you present a balanced view.
Considering the We and not just the I.

I got booted out of the North Stand when they made it the Family Stand and with the assistance of Danny Wilson I ended up in what is now Block 111 in a belting seat.

However the traipse round the ground to/from the Metrolink is starting to weary me as I approach my 80'th birthday so I am seriously considering moving back to the North Stand next season if at all possible.
