Will we win the league this season?

If Arsenal keep defending like they are doing (3 conceded in 12 games) they aren’t going to have to score too many to win games

One other key issue is winning games late - take injury time goals out of the equation and we would be top by a point , dippers would be 6th and 5 points behind us, rags would be 12th, Fulham would be bottom 3, and interestingly Villa would be 4 places higher (albeit not win or dropped any points in injury time!). I appreciate injury time goals count as much as any other but some teams seem to get more injury time when they need it, and vice versa.

Interestingly if thou take goals after 80 mins out of the equation then we would be 3 points clear at the top and 5 points clear of third (Palace). Dippers would be 5 places lower than they currently are, rags 4 places lower and Newcastle 7 places higher.

So maybe scoring more/conceding less in the last 10 mins is our biggest differential v arse and dippers apart from the worry about just how good arsenals defence is - and that’s not a new thing

I still thing the main thing that will stop arsenal is arsenal (aka arsenal being spursy in mentality)

Big factor in our favour is Haaland v Gyokores

Big in there’s is they are getting more goals from more different players

I'd like to thank the fellas on this thread for pointing me towards how long are odds for this season. Stocking a tenner on that. Think we have a very good chance.
What would you rate us at?

Betfair's punters say we have 21% chance of winning the league, i think we more like 30%. What about you?

Yes, somewhere between 30 and 40 even.

I know bookies are using data and analytics, but I dunno Arteta's Arsenal against Pep's City and Arsenal win 4/5 times seems mad to me. Mad enough I'm willing to stick a tenner on it and see if I'm proven right.

Well, Liverpool are pretty much out of the running now. So it’s out of ourselves and Arsenal.

I’ve gone from thinking we had absolutely no chance to being quietly confident. When the pressure ramps up on Arsenal, will they have the bottle?

Plenty of time yet, liverpool aren’t anywhere near out of the running yet, we’ve proved that ourselves.

November is a big month. If we can go unbeaten (and winning most) between now and December then I would be confident that we could go on to win another title.
Still have concerns over the defence though.

Defence isn’t too bad but our over reliance on Haaland is a potential problem if he gets injured.
We look far more solid at the back since we brought Donnarumma in. If we can get a bit of luck with injuries in the back 4 and get Rodri fit there's no reason why we can't keep plenty of clean sheets.

Totally agree about Haaland, we haven't got another natural striker. Marmoush isn't a striker as he showed last season when Haaland was out. He dropped deep which wouldn't be ideal seeing we've gone a bit more direct into Haaland this season.

Those dirty thieving scumbags are well out of it

We were a genuinely elite team in the seasons when we overcame a big points deficit to win it. They’re just a flash in the pan - opportunists who cashed in in a mediocre season

Way too early to say that. I don’t think they’ll win it but it’s daft to predict with certainty this soon.

You're a brave man to type that.

I think Liverpool are bordering on being out of it.

No team has ever won the league losing more than 6 games, and even that was only done by by 6 teams in 30 years. The average is around 4/5.

They have lost 4 in their opening 9. They would have to be virtually flawless for the remainder of the season.

The big question mark over Arsenal is the fact they have a manager that has never won a major, have shown themselves to consistently bottle leading positions in a title race and have an over reliance on set piece goals.

They are the best team in the league right now, but until they get over the line I hold a hope that our experience could see us over the line in the end

We are not perfect, but we have the best league manager in the world, the muscle memory, the most impactful player in the world arguably right now and will only improve as the season goes on.

We are there or thereabouts the top of every measurable statistical metric as well.
