Metrolink to / from Etihad

That was my point "that side of the ground". And they want the government to pay for upping that transport infrastructure so at least a much improved/bigger rail way option and if Utd don't get their shit together for another 10 years before starting on the new ground probably an underground straight from Piccadilly train station and the airport to bring in all those extra overseas fans that their whole business case is predicated on!
Sorry, I didn't realise you were aware of the other options. They are so well served and yet want more. While we get a single line, with single trams every 12 mins after a game

See my user name ;). Despite from next year (if not already done) surpassing the amount of people they will have on site we haven't heard anything about any possible improvements about getting people to and from the campus apart from some light installations "improving the journey". Are they waiting for the Collar site announcement. At Wembley this year I was pissed off that the tube left half empty only for another one to turn up in less than a minute and go with me on it half empty, they have that many lined up it works like clock work, a situation we can only dream of for the Etihad!

London transport is superb, we can only dream in these parts.

I'd really recomend the matchday bus network as well - bus 10 starts in Hale and works its way through Alty, Sale etc - takes a while but it's as close as door to door as you get as an alternative to the tram.

It's getting busier week by week. Given the latest tram fiasco I'd expect it to be very busy in Sunday.

Yup, there's little likelihood of any improvement on a tram infrastructure point of view. The only way such a thing will happen is if a certain Sheik puts his hand in his pocket and donates a sum to do this. Or we piggy-back on the back of Scruffy Jim's attenpts to get the council to pay for his circus tent plans.

Piggy-back no - they should build out to us first then do theirs when they have made sufficient progress on their project in 2045 (feel free to amend :)

Going to the match tonight normally get the tram from brooklands to Manchester then to etihad. The metro link journey planner says the best way is to cycle!! Are the trams on strike?

There is some sort of strike action:

But I’m in Town now and Mets have been running while I’ve been here.

Yet again it was shite getting back to Sale on the Altrincham line.
Just got in. I walked into town. The double I managed to get on at Peters Sq. at 10.45 was rammed and left people behind.

Utter joke. No wonder people fuck off night matches or leave early.
Certain lines were not working on Sunday did that mean better frequency on the others - answers on a postcard!

Don't get me started on Sunday. We decided not to bother with the tram because of the work and the replacement bus service. We opted for the 263. Unfortunately the 263 opted not to turn up so we got an Uber to town.

Public transport in Manchester is a joke. Burnham and the rest can get to fuck.

I use the bus on the same route to Hale these days.

I get home earlier than I ever did on the tram, by an appreciable margin on most nights.

Your post from Sale is timed at 11.41 pm.

I arrived home in Bowdon after a 12 minute walk from Hale at about the same time, and the traffic was busier than normal on the Mancunian Way tonight, which delayed my usual arrival time by 10 minutes or so.

I never got home until after midnight using the tram for a midweek game.

I live in Brooklands and get the match bus(5) - There is also one that stops is Sale, I can’t remember the number but I’d try that if I were you

No idea what was happening on the Mancunian Way last night - presume there was some closure on Regent Road as it was gridlocked from the stadium all the way along there. I was driving and was right behind bus 10 all the way along there. Got back to Alty about 11.10.

Obv that previous poster had a fair walk from the Met to his house as he would have been at Sale Met by 11pm if he was at St Peters Square at 10.45.

Had a post match pint and went round for the tram. The concert goers had started coming out so there were still big queues. All flowed really well and only took about 5 mins from joining the queue to getting on the tram. Credit where it's due Metrolink had it well organised last night

Absolute shambles last night getting to the ground from the major railway station. Singles coming in absolutely rammed with maybe 15/20 people able to get on each time. Queuing back to the taxi rank from the tram platform is, frankly, pathetic. Most frustrating of all was SIX double trams coming in and then terminating at Piccadilly. European game and COOP live event and there’s more empty trams than full ones.
If Burnham thinks that’s acceptable he should attend a game/concert and travel from Piccadilly on the tram. He’s made driving and parking impossible, he’s got trams and buses competing for the same bit of roads and it’s an absolute shit show. The Germans in the queue were somewhat bemused by our total lack of transport options for getting there.
At least the Über drivers made a few quid…
