16 | Rodri 2025/26

I can’t be the only one who has a really bad feeling about his fitness? Initially I couldn’t wait for him to come back but week by week, I’m edging towards writing him off after the false starts. I pray he can get back but it’s really worrying.
As people have said here many many times ACL injuries are 18-24 month injuries. It's been 13 months or so. Personally I doubt we'll ever see the peak Rodri of two years ago but if we get a close facsimile then that'll do nicely.

I don't think he'll leave this summer, as others have said Real wont pay 50 mil for a guy struggling to stay fit.

Might take him on a free the following year tho.

No chance do City let him leave for free.

I am pretty sure City will be telling Rodri come February/March time, if you want out you can leave this summer so we can plan forward and we can get a fee.

What if he just says I'm not leaving this summer, I want to go to madrid and they will only sign me on a free. So I'm going on a free next year. Trent did that to liverpool and that was his boyhood club, and Madrid constantly tell players to do this. We'd probably keep playing him anyway because of his quality.

He's got all the cards I think.

Real Madrid won’t sign 31 year old player after ACL. Even for free. I bet on Barca for free. They love such stories right now when they are broken

I wouldn’t extend his contract but I wouldn’t sell him as well. Keep him till 2027 and let him go for free with legend status. Shame on you, Partey.

City should do what Liverpool should have done and said you can stay but you won't play a single game.

If you want Madrid, your leaving.

He wants that Ballon d'Or pay rise, which he will waste a year of getting if he doesn't renew with us.

As a club, City should never allow the player to have the upper hand. Ever. Regardless of who it is.

The great clubs and managers get rid once they know a player isn't dialled in anymore.

Yeah, just like De Bruyne, Aguero, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva etc.

No chance we will let him go for free. We sold everyone from this list.

I genuinely think he would and could call our bluff. OK don't play me, I'm staying anyway and leaving on a free. It's like Mbappe at PSG, he's too good. We'd play him anyway. Pep ultimately would just want to put out best 11 and that would probably have rodri in it.

Players win these kinds of battles 9/10 times i think

I can see your points.

Personally mate, I don't think we will ever see Rodri back to what he was, and not even to close to what he was.

When you near 30 and just come through an ACL, you second guess every movement, turn and tackle.

It's exceptionally rare at near 30 to have near 18 months (could be longer at this rate) from top level football and come back to it and be a top level footballer again.

I think the club will be wise to consider the fact that as an elite player, Rodri is potentially finished.

We need have contingency plans lined up just in case.

Confirmed out for Leeds...this is getting quite worrying now with the lack of detail about what the issue is, when he'll be back, Pep talking about mental recovery etc.
