That is one of the functions of Metrolink, not the sole function. It seems you're missing the point though. Of course it can be quicker to walk back to town, I do it myself. It's not quicker to walk from St. Peters Sq to the Etihad though, which is what the OP was saying. Even if it was, that would only support what we are stating, and that is the service pre and post match are largely inadequate.I am walking back to town when they are walking to the Etihad tram stop, and standing still in the queue. That is why the majority of fans walk back to the City centre. Trams / heavy rail are designed to get people from the suburbs into Manchester and out.
