Metrolink to / from Etihad

Arguably the most important'and fastest developing entertainment centre in the conurbation, with entirely predictable demand and load factors, yet critically under served by a 'not fit for purpose' loss making shambles.

Only in broken Britain !!

Cash paying on the bus can easily be resolved with a one off special single fare and encouragement of card payments.

You can use cards in other cities I’ve been to and tap in / out is the done thing on the tram. I don’t use them enough to know but surely Manchester buses take card payments?

They do but it's not tap in tap out (yet), cash is actually quicker if you've got the 2 quid ready. When paying by card you have to ask the driver what ticket you want, then they have to program the machine, then you have to lay your card or phone on the scanner, then you have to wait until the 3 green lights and red light come on, then you have to wait for the receipt to print out. For a £5 day ticket (in the Bee Bus Network) I buy it on the first bus this way but after that it's just waving the QR code under the reader, really fast. I could buy the pass beforehand via the app but I keep forgetting to do it.

However, tap in and tap out is the way to go because it just calculates the best price and gives the bus companies (or TfGM) the data about how many and where people are getting on and off the buses. This will help improve bus route planning. I think it's about another 2 years before all buses come under the Bee network, but some buses already have the tap-in/tap-out devices in place.

A special fare for a City to Town bus should be in place so everyone pays the same. Maybe some sort of subsidy or sponsorship in place to keep it a regular amount. If buses are well organised then it will keep tram and car use at City lower.

Everyone pays the same for every bus journey in Manchester as it is. It’s £2.

Grand. As I said, I rarely use them. I stop in town when I’m out with friends and I use the tram if I go to City.

Most people touching in for a one off fare should speed boarding. We need loads of buses, stewarded queues and, if possible, traffic in to town held to let them get off.

That's the new scheduled route in the evening after 8 pm. Altrincham to Piccadilly now extended to Etihad. In between Ashton to Eccles.
Staying in Altrincham for the Everton game tomorrow.
Is there a direct service to the game from there.
