The "which famous person died today" thread

Stanley Baxter the Scottish comedian and impressionist has died at the grand old age of 99. His Stanley Baxter comedy shows and Christmas specials drew massive audiences on both BBC and ITV. Ultimately he was dropped by both as his shows proved too expensive to produce. Baxter appeared in several films including "The Fast Lady" with Julie Christie. He also came out as gay after 46 years of marriage.

Stanley was a massively talented man, remember his xmas specials and films before that.

Played a great baddie, think he had a role in the usual suspects.

His famous lines in Pulp Fiction: "Bring on the Gimp" - Response "The Gimp's Sleeping" - "Well wake him then" Cue: appearance of drooling pervert in Gimp suit in front of a bound and gagged, helpless Bruce Willis! and Ving Rhames. What a scene.

Great great film pulp fiction, so many stand out scenes. It blew me away at the pictures, I remember thinking dont go back down there Bruce you daft bastard:-)

You dont want that finger stopping in your direction.

Yes the moving finger stopped at Ving Rhames and he was cornholed by Zed. Improbably Bruce Willis escaped and fled the room, only to return with a massive Japanese Saumari sword to incapacitate Zed and kill the gimp and to free Rhames. The latter thanked Willis and promised to "strip That homme down and to work him over with pliers and blow torch" (a line lifted by Quarantino from the film - Charley Varrick" )

Harry Roberts finally kicked the bucket.

99 years old.

Yeah - his estranged wife Margaret (stage name Mitzi) was a well known Manchester based stripper in the Northern clubs. She made an appeal to give himself up after the slaying of three police officers. Instead he went on the run for three months living rough in Epping forest until captured. His 42 year old sentence was the longest ever recorded at the time.

Did she go on to become Prime Minister?
